I'm a 28-year-old woman, and I'm experiencing a lot of hair loss. Why is that?

It's not falling out in patches to suggest baldness, so it's falling out all over. I'm getting new growth in its place, but its texture is quite fine and very frizzy. What can I do to remedy this?I'm a 28-year-old woman, and I'm experiencing a lot of hair loss. Why is that?
Most people associate hair loss as being a male problem not

so, in fact about 28 million American women suffer the effects of

female pattern baldness (technically known as androgenetic alopecia).

Symptoms of this condition are a general thinning of hair over the

whole scalp area and a moderate loss of hair on the crown of the

head or at the hairline. It is rare for women to develop completely

bald areas as men often do.

Hair loss in women typically begins around age 30 and becomes

noticeable around age 40. The process speeds up after menopause.

As with men, hair loss in women is caused by a combination of

Poor diet and nutrition, genetic and hormonal factors and

psychological stress. Among the common causes of female pattern

baldness are:

Malnutrition from an unbalanced diet

Rapid weight loss from dieting

Severe illness or surgery

Prolonged emotional stress

Anaemia or low blood count

Thyroid abnormalities

Abuse of drugs, especially amphetamines

Postpartum hormonal changes or discontinuation of birth control pills can also cause significant hair loss, but in most cases it is temporary, and hair will recover its body and lustre as the woman's body chemistry stabilizes.

So what can you do if you start noticing more hair on your hairbrush and less on your head? Current options include using prescription drugs such as Minoxidil (Rogaine) or exploring modern hair replacement, transplants, and cellcloning techniques. There are also many hairdressing products, which create the

illusion of added fullness and bounce.

Hair loss in women is often associated with crash dieting. Nutritional deficiencies are often the culprit. Fasting or an in correct diet often results in a shortage of vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene, and other antioxidants, leading to hair loss. Food supplements are a must when dieting.

Vegetarians often find their hair thinning and their hairline receding too, especially when they first switch to a meat-free diet. The culprit is usually a lack of protein in the body. When they increase the amount of non-animal protein soy products, for instance in their diets, hair loss stops and often reverses itself.

For all those concerned with hair loss the first ';port of call'; is to realize the importance that internal/external and cosmetic factors play in this regard.

The body is self-healing. Doctors cannot heal. They create a situation in which nature is able to do its work of healing, repairing and regenerating. So, too, with our hair.

Often by correctly regulating the body's metabolism and incorporating principals of a well balanced diet, longevity exercise (a simplistic

effective 5 step exercise routine derived from ancient yoga teachings)and hair workout techniques, great benefits can be obtained and should be incorporated before involving oneself in a course of treatment, products, and procedures, which are often unnecessary and involve considerable outlay.

Realize the importance of looking after your hair as it is natures own health barometer and as night follows day, your overall health and well being will flourish as well.

You can stop hair loss using many cheap and effective home remedies.Egg white, lemon juice, oil massage are other home remedies at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/hairfall.htm will prevent further problems.
IT COULD BE FROM A FEW MONTHS AFTER GIVING BIRTH TO A CHILD OR HORMONE CHANGES,STRESS,THYROID PROBLEMS OR AN ILLNESS BUT, I HAD MY TUBES TIED TOO WHICH CAUSED PROBLEMS WITH MY PERIODS........... I WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH HAIR LOSS AFTER TWO OF MY RELATIVES DIED THIS PAST YEAR. I WENT TO THE DOC AND SHE PUT ME ON BIRTH-CONTROL AND IT WORKED FOR ME.
R u under alot of stress?Or have u tied ur hair up too tightly? If u haven't trim ur hair in a long time, then u should do that to prevent hair loss. r u combing ur hair too hard when it's wet?u can choose to use a wide tooth comb or just brush ur fingers through ur wet hair.Do u have dandruff problem? Then u might need to use anti-dandruff shampoo. If u scratch ur scalp too hard when u shampoo ur hair,it might cause hair loss too.Hope this helps :)
stress, lack of nutrition, weight loss, thyroids, postpartum hairloss, it could be any of these things.
I'm 28 too and I've got a lot of hair, but it's very straight and ultra fine so it tends to be limp and won't hold a style most days. I would suggest two things - first, get your hair colored - it adds volume and structure to it - and I also get extensions if you can afford it (I can't, otherwise I would do that in a second!!!) It may be falling out due to stress.
FIrst off, you need to see your doctor and make sure you dont have any medical problems causing hair loss. Thyroid dysfunction is a big cause of hair loss, as is stress.

    FALLING HAIR -

Does your hair fall a lot? Don't worry, you're not alone. Millions of people from all around the world suffer from dry, brittle and weak hair. Some of the possible reasons for falling hair are:

    Tension

    Too much work

    Illness

    Poor diet

    Over-exposure to the sun

    Perming

    Amateur bleaching

Too frequent and inexpert use of tints, rinses or other colourants

Here is what you can do to prevent hair fall

Shampoo regularly. Remember, a CLEAN scalp is a HEALTHY SCALP.

Brahmi amla oil also promotes hair growth.

A high protein diet with plenty of fruits, green vegetables and dairy products is a must.

Drink 10-12 glass of water everyday.

Use a very mild shampoo and condition your hair at least twice a week. When you do, make sure you rinse out the conditioner thoroughly, otherwise residue build-up will cause your hair to look limp and dull.

Know your vitamins! IRON is important for healthy hair and brittle, limp hair indicates an iron deficiency. Spinach has a good iron content, so gulp it down!

ZINC helps prevent hair loss and greying. Eat adequate zinc rich foods. Overweight people tend to have zinc deficiency, which is inversely related to the body mass index. Thus if you are overweight and if your hair falls too much, you may want to increase your intake of zinc containing foods. Recipes containing stone ground, wholegrain flour are rich in zinc.

A shortfall in VITAMIN B may cause dandruff, falling hair, loss of colour and could encourage grey hair. So B group Vitamins are essential for gloss, colour and thickness.

VITAMIN C ensures the health of capillaries supplying blood to hair follicles. Make sure your diet includes plenty of fresh fruits and veggies.

VITAMIN E encourages hair growth. Switch from refined flours to wholemeal and wheatgerm, eggs, vegetable oil.

COPPER stops hair from falling. Studies show that the copper content in the blood serum of people with falling hair is less than normal. Different types of alopecia (falling hair) are seen to have a deficiency of this important trace element. Include small quantities of nuts, especially cashews and peanuts, seeds, whole milk and beans in your diet as these contain minute but important amounts of copper.

Homemade remedies for preventing hair fall:

Apply almond oil on scalp and massage.

Grind fenugreek seeds in water and apply on your scalp. Wash off after 40 minutes. Do this every morning for a month 隆V if it suits you! Remember, different treatments suit different types of hair.

Massage warm castor oil + almond oil into your scalp gently. Wrap a hot towel around your scalp so it gets absorbed into the hair. Do this twice a week for healthy, shiny hair.

Add 2-3 drops of honey to a glass of water and use this as the last rinse after shampooing.

    Quick Hair Care Conditioner

Mix 1 egg, 2 tbs castor oil, 1 tsp vinegar and 1 tsp glycerine. Beat until frothy and massage lightly into your scalp. Wrap your head in a hot towel, steam, then wash off. This conditioner makes hair thicker, shiny, soft and manageable.

    Honey Conditioner

Beat 1-2 eggs (depending on the length of the hair), 1 tsp honey and 2 tsp olive oil. Massage gently into the scalp. Steam, and shampoo after an hour.

    Alcohol Conditioner

Beat 1-2 eggs with 2 tsp brandy. Massage into your scalp. Leave for 10-15 mins. Rinse well. The egg nourishes your hair and brandy stimulates hair growth.

Your hair is a vital beauty asset, requiring constant loving care. And with a little nurturing, lush, glossy hair will be yours

    ESSENTIALS FOR FALLING HAIR -

Does your hair fall often Arm yourself with these tools to combat hair fall.

    Wide-toothed comb

Get yourself a wide-toothed comb. This is probably one of the most important yet underutilized of all hair tools. A wide-toothed comb helps you distribute conditioner evenly all over your hair while shampooing and conditioning. In addition, it also helps get rid of knots smoothly.

The best time to get rid of knots is during conditioning. Apply conditioner and run a wide toothed comb gently through your hair.

While untangling dry hair, do so in sections. Take one section at a time, and first, untangle the ends of your hair. Do so slowly, and don?t pull unless you want your hair to fall out in clumps or break.

Don?t wait for the last minute before detangling your hair. Every night, while sitting in front of the television, run a wide toothed comb gently through your hair, until you have untangled it completely. Do this every night, and you will notice that your hair remains free from tangles.

    Leave-in conditioner

Dry hair tends to tangle easily, and, needless to say, causes it to break. Make sure your hair is never devoid of moisture by always keeping a bottle of leave-in conditioner handy. The next time you feel your hair is dry and rough to the touch, simply rub a dollop of leave-in conditioner between your palms, and apply it to your hair. Comb through with your wide toothed comb. Your hair will be instantly rejuvenated and moisturized. Gradually, the texture will also improve. This is a must if you blow dry your hair regularly, or if it is chemically treated. Such hair constantly craves moisture, so get yourself a bottle of leave-in conditioner.

    Oil

Olive, almond and coconut oils are all excellent for the hair. While you could apply oil as an alternative to leave-in conditioner, oil tends to make your hair sticky, and you cannot style your hair well after applying oil. Your only alternative would then be to tie up your hair. For better results with oil, apply just a few drops immediately after washing your hair, when your hair is still dripping wet. Oil doesn?t penetrate the strands as easily as leave-in conditioner does though. Nothing beats a hot oil massage followed by a steam treatment, as the steam helps the oil penetrate the hair strands, strengthening them and curtailing hair fall.

    Egg

Egg is great for the hair ? there are no two ways about it! True, it causes a tremendous stink in the bathroom, and your hair may let off an ?eggy? smell, but the results are instantaneous and worth it! Egg strengthens your hair almost immediately, and the egg yolk leaves your hair shining. Whip an egg with two tablespoons of olive oil and apply it to your hair. Wash off after half an hour. Make sure you wash off with cold water though, or the egg will start cooking in your hair, and would be harder to take off! Use a scented shampoo to counter the smell of egg in your hair, and follow up with a leave-in conditioner. Do this for a month, and you will be amazed by the change in your hair texture and the reduction in hair fall.I'm only 33 year old woman and I'm experiencing hair loss. It's quite embarassing. Any suggestion?
There is rogaine for women. Just get it at the drug store. If this doesnt help, a doctor can prescribe some stronger stuff.I'm only 33 year old woman and I'm experiencing hair loss. It's quite embarassing. Any suggestion?
See a doctor. It's probably hormonal and could be your thyroid. Hair loss is a common symptom of a thyroid problem.
See your doctor about it. Hair loss after pregnancy and going off birth control is normal if either apply. But, woman can lose their hair too.

    Hair replacement is one option.
you should avoid wearing hat to prevent hair loss and for the mean time lessen the use of conditioner or anything that can damage the hair such as hair colors(highlights),ironing and many more.hope that i help even a little bit
I would look into Rogaine as the other answer suggested. I would also look into nutritional supplements. I would find someone who works in alternative medicine for guidance. In my reading, there are lots of things that can cause hair loss; too many to name, in fact. As far as I know, traditional medicine looks at hair loss as irreversable. But I don't think alternative medicine does. I'd start reading up on it if I was you, and you may be able to determine your cause for your particular case as you know your situation best. Good luck to you. I wouldn't give up if it was me, either.
Hair loss can be caused by various problems. Such as medical conditions, hormones and medicine.

I suggest you call your doctor and get a professional opinion.

I've been a licensed cosmetologist for thirty years.

    Hope this helps.
did you try lathering your scalp daily with peanut butter?

Any other women out there experiencing thinning or hair loss?

I'm only 28 and not happy about mine...Any other women out there experiencing thinning or hair loss?
I am. Have been for a little while. I am 34 now. I talked to my dermatologist about it. She said that there are 2 options. Propecia, which is not FDA approved and Rogaine for women. Either one of these requires a lifetime commitment.

There is a shampoo called Nioxin which ';promotes a healthy scalp environment'; and is supposed to help your hair to not fall out. It did help slow it down for me. They also suggest taking vitamins. They have a website where you can read about it.

I also just heard on the news that scientists have isolated a specific gene in our DNA that tells your body to grow hair and they think that they may be able to do something with that to help people. Keep your ears open for that. It seems more promising than the other options.

In the meantime... do not brush excessively. Do not scrub, scratch or pull at your hair. Treat your hair gently. Some people will pull their hair up so that it covers the thinning area. You can usually do that pretty gracefully.

Also; it could be a sign of a thyroid disorder and/or lupus or something like that. If you have any other symptoms you may want to talk to a doctor about it. If there is an underlying issue then you could solve the hair problem and really help yourself at the same time.Any other women out there experiencing thinning or hair loss?

no but some hair loss comes from stress.
You are not alone. It is very common. This site has a good article about hair loss in women
If you are noticing an increase in shedding then its important to go to your doctor for some blood work to make sure its not related to an malfunction somewhere in your body.It is normal to loose around 100 hairs per day on average.

these are some hair health tips to keep in mind

1.) Seaweeds, help stimulate the thyroid and give minerals for the proper health of the hair

2.) Spinach is great for the hair, contains lots of minerals,as are all the green vegetables.

3.) Protein your hair is made of protein so make sure you are getting it in either animal or vegetable form such as fish,chicken,beef,legumes,nuts... and cheese.Or protein drinks.

4.) take a good b-vitamin supplement with biotin which increases hair growth.

5.)MSM contains naturally occuring sulfer and will make your hair and nails grow faster.

    6.) silica

this combined with a good scalp massage with herbal hair oil will do wonders for your hair. Avoid brushing ur hair when its wet,and use a natural shampoo that does not contain harsh or heavy cleansers with sodium laureth sulfates.
It just doesn't happen only to men.
Omigod, everytime I wash my hair (which is everyday) clumps come out. Its kinda scary and frustrating!! I wonder what causes it? Anyway, good luck sister!
    Here's what you gotta do:

    1. Get a vitamin E capsule (most of them comes in gel capsule form that has a liquid inside. Any brand will do.)

    2. Get a needle and pop the capsule.

    3. Now get your shampoo bottle and put the liquid vitamin E inside the bottle.

    4. Mix the bottle.

    5. Use your shampoo.

You'll notice that your hair will grow faster compared before. Trust me, this works. :) I also do this myself. :)

If you have virgin coconut oil at home, you can use this as well. Put it on hair and leave it for at least 30 minutes (You can do this at least 3x a day). Then rinse it off using your shampoo. The VCO can act as your hair lengthener and as your conditioner. :) Goodluck! :) (Refer to my avatar to see how well VCO/Vitamin E works =P)

22 year-old woman experiencing hair loss- PLZ Help!?

y parents have lush thick black hair, and I did too up until a month ago. Everyone is telling me it's from stress but I'm not under a significant amount of stress. I noticed it when I was pulling my hair back in a pony tail and the thickness was almost half of what it typically is. I'm starting to get very concerned and obsessing over it. I don't have health insurance, so I can't see a dermatologist or hair specialist, but my school has a health center that I plan on going to. Any suggestions/ideas? Serious answers only please. I appreciate it!!22 year-old woman experiencing hair loss- PLZ Help!?
Okay, sweetheart, first off, even if you can't see a dermatologist as you don't have insurance, the school health center will have primary care doctors that can at least examine your scalp to determine the pattern of loss. Secondly, if this hair loss has occurred over the course of a month, you'd be well advised to have the family doctor at the health center or whoever the caretaker is... have them refer you to a dermatologist to ensure that there is not a serious underlying condition, or that if this is a manifestation of a systemic disorder, that the appropriate blood work and medication can be obtained.

Lastly, consider re-posting your question under Science%26gt;Medicine or under Healthcare%26gt;Skin. There are other doctors who frequent those forums who very well may be Dermatologists and can offer you a more sophisticated response.

I wish you well.22 year-old woman experiencing hair loss- PLZ Help!?
Have you had fever in the last few weeks? I had strep one time and had a 103 fever and a few weeks after experienced some significant hair loss. General anesthesia can do that too. Its temporary.

Also, do you have dry skin, dry eyes, brittle nails, and or constipation? You could have a thyroid condition.

It's definitely devastating. It's been shown in studies that women who have hair loss have problems with interpersonal relationships, they have loss of self-esteem, and it really can have a tremendous psychosocial type of impact. They tend to be more introverted. And again, there are so many excellent treatments that are now available, and it's really not necessary for you to have to deal with this sort of emotional trauma.

Has anyone experienced increased hair loss while using Women's Rogaine?

I started using Women's Rogaine about 2 weeks ago and now my hair is falling off more. Does anyone know if the hairloss stops with time or should I stop using the product?Has anyone experienced increased hair loss while using Women's Rogaine?
Be careful... is there an 800 # on the box? I would call it and speak with a specialist just to be sure. Or, you could call your hair stylist or even your doctor. You may be allergic to an active ingredient in the product.

What can cause a young woman in her 20s to experience hair loss when she is not stressing?

Hair loss does not run in the family especially not from ages 21 to 28. Hair has been thinning out since the age of 21 and stress is not an issue. What can cause a young woman in her 20s to experience hair loss when she is not stressing?
    nothing but two reasons

one is genetical. you cannot change

other is the environment . bad water,(salt water),over usage of chemicals, shampoo etcWhat can cause a young woman in her 20s to experience hair loss when she is not stressing?
maybe she doesnt eat healthy food which her hair %26amp;body need it .
It could be a vitamin issue, I would consult a nutritionist.
This has happened to me. She should get a blood test done to see if it may be her thyroid or even iron deficiency. Telogen Effluvian is the diagnostic name that encompases such hair loss.

I purchased some nice headbands that expand to cover the whole head so to disguise the patchy hair loss as it happened.
Malnutrition, chemicals or just thinning hair.
She should have her thyroid checked.
Anemia. You may want to consider going to the doctor soon to get bloodwork (including a ferritin test) done, especially considering that each hair you lose will take a long time to grow back. May sound like a simple solution, but it would be worth it to find out from a doctor how to take care of this problem and push it out of your life for good. Good luck.

Anyone experience hair loss with a copper IUD? I have the Paragard and have been hearing this happens to women

I keep losing a bit of hair..... not sure if I should be concerned...Anyone experience hair loss with a copper IUD? I have the Paragard and have been hearing this happens to women
    I have found no connection:

Side Effects %26amp; Health Risks of Paragard

When ParaGard is put in place, cramping or pain may be experienced. Some women feel faint or dizzy. The most common side effect of ParaGard are longer and heavier periods, and some women have spotting between periods. Usually, these problems go away after a few months. However, if menstruation is very heavy or does not stop when it should, call your doctor. You should also call your doctor immediately if you miss a period, because this means that you might be pregnant. Pregnancy can pose a serious health risk for any women with an IUD in place.

Some serious health risks have been associated with intrauterine devices, including ParaGard, are pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), perforation of the uterus, expulsion of the device (the IUD falls out), and difficult removal (the IUD gets stuck in the uterus and may require surgery to remove). A comprehensive list of possible side effects and health risks of the ParaGard IUD are listed below.

Documented Health Risks for the ParaGard IUD

Abdominal infection or adhesions (scar tissue)

    Allergy to copper

    Anemia

    Backache

    Blood poisoning

    Bowel obstruction

    Cervical infection or erosion

    Cysts on ovaries and tubes

    Death

    Delayed menstruation

    Difficult removal

    Ectopic/tubal pregnancy

Embedment (IUD surrounded by uterine tissue)

Expulsion (IUD comes completely or partially out of the uterus)

Fainting and pain at the time of insertion or removal

    Fragmentation (breakage) of the IUD

    Infertility

    Spotting between periods

    Miscarriage

    Painful intercourse

Pelvic infection (PID), which may result in surgical removal of your reproductive organs, including hysterectomy

Perforation of the uterus (womb) or cervix (IUD passes through uterine tissue)

    Pregnancy

    Prolonged or heavy menstrual flow

Infected miscarriage followed, in some cases, by blood poisoning, which can lead to death

    Vaginal discharge

    http://www.contracept.info/iud-paragard.

Side effects and health risks. Common side effects associated with the copper IUD are increased vaginal bleeding and menstrual pain. Taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (Advil, Motrin, others) helps with these symptoms. Some women may also experience a pelvic infection within the first three weeks of placement, as the insertion process may introduce bacteria into the uterus. Your doctor may prescribe antibiotics before insertion to reduce the risk of such infections. The copper IUD doesn't protect against STDs. IUDs also carry a risk of spontaneous expulsion which leaves you unprotected against pregnancy or piercing (perforation) of the uterine wall during insertion.

You might want to check other possibilities for your hair loss like the thyroid gland for instance.Anyone experience hair loss with a copper IUD? I have the Paragard and have been hearing this happens to women
Have you been stressed out lately or changed your diet at all? I've got the Paragard and my hair's been doing fine~ don't rule out the IUD as the cause, of course, but check into other aspects of your current lifestyle, too.

I am a 35 year old woman experiencing hair loss. Can anyone tell me what's going on?

I know we are suppose to shed 50 strains a day, so its obvious I am experiencing lossing a bit more. I am almost sure its not a vitamin E or A defiency because I've been taking those and it still shedding really bad. I have made an appt. w/my dermatologist for next week, but has anyone else had this problem and gotten a diagnosis?I am a 35 year old woman experiencing hair loss. Can anyone tell me what's going on?
Hair loss can come from many things. Stress, health, damage...I lost the majority of my hair several years ago-the issue:Lupus, I had already been diagnosed a couple years before that, but because of stress my Lupus flared and it caused major hair loss. Definitely go to a doctor/dermatologist...someone that can possibly assess the problem medically. If you find it's not medical, examine the level of stress in your life, if there's none. Try using less chemicals, heat or pull on your hair.I am a 35 year old woman experiencing hair loss. Can anyone tell me what's going on?
    Logic would suggest...

    A vitamin deficiency.

Could be caused by a hidden infection, ie 'parasitic' infection.

Try a wide spectrum vitamin, with a herbal parasitic, ie grapefruit extract, or oregano oil, or garlic, together with fiber and yogurt.

    Good Luck !
Yes if you are expriencing stress in your life this a very common. I have ( weird but very fine curly and fair hair) but I have so much that hairdrayer's are amazed. I have at times lost exteme amounts due to periods of stress.

Extreme is what I say, I thought I was going bald.

This is a condition of being unhappy,
its probably hormonal. i have that problem for years but i have a lot of hair so its not noticeable. i blame it on hormones. I'm 50 yrs old...I'm still waiting for menopause to kick in full force instead of just messing with me!
its a 100 strands a day if that makes you feel better. but my hair is falling out too and im only 15. i guess its the mousse and gel. i dont know. well good luck.
could it be stress? You also have to consider if you've been putting your hair up a lot lately the scruncci or whatever is holding your hair tears them out by the follicle, you also lose over 100 hairs a day!

Do women who have an abortion experience the same hair loss women get after having a baby?? ?

No, because hopefully the abortion was very early in the pregnancy. I would look at other things such hair products and styling products. If you perm or dye your hair a lot that can cause hair breakage. If your stressed out because of the abortion that could possibly cause hair loss. I would just try to relax and pamper your hair. Try taking vitamins made for stronger hair also.Do women who have an abortion experience the same hair loss women get after having a baby?? ?
no because it is done early on.Do women who have an abortion experience the same hair loss women get after having a baby?? ?
No because they didn't go the whole nine months and have go through all the hormonal changes.

Please don't ask abortion questions here, there are women TTC and it's hard for them to see things like this.
Probably not, because an abortion is performed so early on in the pregnancy.
I know that abortion increases your chance of having a future baby premature, and increases your risk of breast cancer by 30% to 50%. I have not heard any direct link to hair loss.

There are several other reasons you may experience hair loss, some of them are nutrition related, and others are hormone related.
nope with abortion you body haven't experience the whole chemical change.
A few do in later abortions. A friend of mine did.
It depends, but most likely no. The hair loss a full-term women has is actually because of the abundance of hair growth caused by hormones during the pregnancy...so it's temporary hair for a lack of better way to put it. Most women who have abortions don't carry long enough for the hair growth to occur so they shouldn't lose hair afterwards, but it is always a possibility.
I never lost any hair after i gave birth to all 3 of mine. But, everybody is different. It could be stress too. just give yourself some time. You just had an abortion, or somebody that you know. Thats hard to deal with. Just give yourself some time, %26amp; take it easy.
this is my 5th pregnancy and i never lost hair from any of my kids
No idea, but I never lost hair after having my daughter.
when do women start losinghair after babies... I have 2 babies and never lost hair?

I have very fine hair and also was losing hair at a young age (younger than you are) so I got worried and started researching and trying different things. I was losing hair everytime I washed it and what helped me the best was switching the right shampoo. Nioxin is defiantely the best shampoo I have every used for my hair. My hair is healthier than ever and also seems to be coming out much thicker. Secondly I use a deep conditioner once a week with protein (which is what hair is made of). Make sure to massage your head everyday when shampooing or any other time. I also use a nioxin follicle booster which i believe is causing miracles for my hair. Another thing I was trying for a while which seemed to help was applying tee tree oil to my scalp before shampooing. Lastly I started taking hair and nail vitamins. At this point i see absolutely no more hair loss and my hair is coming out faster, thicker, and healthier.
    try these tips

    drink milk

eat food rich in vitamin and protein because ur hair is made from 75% proteins so eating more proteins makes it thicker

also wash ur hair with warm water so that u would open the pores to allow more hair to grow

dont wash ur hair every day 4 times a week is enough because using too much shampoo ruins ur hair because it is full of chemicals and because u remove the natural oil in ur hair needed to make it thick

dont take artificial vitamins natural nutration in food is better because too much vitamin can kill i read it in the book
diabetes can also thin out your hair. Maybe your stress is due to high blood pressure. my mom was going through something similar before she found out she had both diabetes and high blood pressure. If you haven't gotten checked out in a while, i would recommend it.
    Just consult your doctor.

Is it possible for a woman to get chemo and radiation with no hair or weight loss and no radiation tatoo?

Some chemo regimes don't cause hair loss, and many people actually put on weight during chemo.

She would have been required to have tattoos for radiotherapy, but they are small dots - I can only see one of the four I had.

What would not have been possible would be for her to undergo these treatments without having a great deal of time off work. I don't know why her colleagues are suspicious of her, but if she hasn't had a fair amount of sick leave to recover from surgeries and from chemotherapy that may be a reason.

It isn't unknown. of course, for people to pretend they have cancer, for attention or sympathy or whatever. If you know her well, you will probably know whether she has been sick and ill with the effects of treatment, and whether she has had hospital stays.

Give her the benefit of the doubt until you have reason to believe she's not telling the truth. Is it possible for a woman to get chemo and radiation with no hair or weight loss and no radiation tatoo?
well it depends on your case of cancer and what treatments you will need to receive.

not all chemo's/radiation cause hair loss or weight loss - my boyfriend actually put on weight during his chemo because they gave he steriods to help him with the chemo.

if you have radiation then your going to have a tattoo because they need to make sure that they blast you in the correct place everytime - its dangerous for them to just guess.

my boyfriend lost his hair 3 weeks after his 1st lot of chemo, (he only had 2 doses) but it soon started to grow back and he had a normal head of hair within 2 months.

if you get better then surely its all worth it.

How come when black women straightenen their hair its ok but when a black guy does it all hell breaks loss?

Like the black is either looked at weird or is called wanna white or gay.. My boyfriend is black and has his hair straighten and he looks at bad not mostly from his own people...(Btw im a black girl)

    For example like this:http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee136/suwarnaadi/jensen-ackles-hairstyle.jpg

    Or even this:http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee136/suwarnaadi/chacecrawford3.jpg

Why do black women and men hate other black guys for straighting their hair so much?

Im not self hating just a question..How come when black women straightenen their hair its ok but when a black guy does it all hell breaks loss?
It just looks weird. I like my men with either short hair or dreads(%26lt;--MMMMM!) and no inbetweens. It looks unattractive but that's probably because no one thinks about it that much. Maybe you've stumbled upon some african american hair revolution. If there was a way to wear straight hair and it would look good they would do it. Maybe if you can find a decent style for BLACK men instead of those two white guys(very sexii white guys btw). In most cases, our hair is just different from theirs and you can't hold our hairstyles up to the same expectations as someone with silky hair. I hope you understand what I'm trying to sayHow come when black women straightenen their hair its ok but when a black guy does it all hell breaks loss?
Lol, not where I live. If I could i'll put perm on a guys head myself to see how funny it looks.

Lol that looks cool to me.
I think that when a guy straightens his hair than he most be a pimp or gay! I wouldn't want to date a guy who has enough hair to straighten because I am a straight woman and I don't want a guy who is as feminine as me!
    I think he should try.

The only thing I think he needs to be ready for is being called Little Richard.

But- if his face will suit the look, why not? Go for it! Have fun, it's only hair!
Well straight hair on a black doesn't look good unless he's Prince or Ice T lol.

I prefer black women to have natural hair as well, it looks sexier. Straight hair is boring and overrated.
i aint even look at that picture just what the hell is he thinking
black guys with straight? I've seen that twice in my whole life it looks gay.
    I think it's all stereotyping.
Black man straighting his hair? Ehh thats gay. Unless its done like Kat Williams.
    Why does it even matter?

Can hormone levels effect hair growth or loss in woman?

I've been experiencing hair loss and think it may have to do with my hormone levels. I've been taking prenatal vitamins so that i know im getting a high dose of iron and other nutrients to help but it does'nt seem to be doing anything.

Any suggestions? Can hormone levels effect hair growth or loss in woman?
You might be taking too much iron. Stress is a BIG part of hair loss too!Can hormone levels effect hair growth or loss in woman?
hormone level changes can definitely trigger hair loss/growth. but changes in hormones levels should not be triggered by prenatal vitamins. if only ever so slightly. once you are pregnant yes they will change dramatically, but not before.

i think the person who said it maybe too much iron is onto something.
Here a few simple home remedies which can be tried at home to control hair fall.

1.Rinse your hair with a mix of apple cider vinegar and sage tea this helps hair grow..

    2. A medicine rich in sulfur is also recommended as sulfur plays an important part in the structure of the hair.

    3. Massage with olive oil before going to bed at night and next morning, wash off the hair gently..

    4. To treat hair loss apply a little lemon juice with some black tea.Massage well and shampoo.

    5. Beat two eggs, and add two tablespoons of water to it. Rinse hair and pour the egg mixture over the hair.Massage the scalp well and leave for 10 minutes. Then wash it.
Heredity, hormones, stress, diet, illness, poor hair care – all are factors in hair loss.

Stress, diet and illness are more temporary conditions and usually the hair loss is reversed when the anxiety-producing conditions dissipate, when the diet is improved, when hair care improves and when an illness is cured or gotten under control.

Heredity and hormones are different matters, however. Heredity is an irreversible condition. You are a product of your parents, and hair loss is often inherited. Hormones are tricky, hidden things, however, and they have different effects on an individual basis.

In a male, testosterone abides abundantly. There are also enzymes working on testosterone which product a substance called DHT. DHT is now known to circulate in the blood and cause other conditions, one of which is the shrinking of hair follicles. When hair follicles shrink enough, they are unable to produce and push a new hair through. As old hair dies, it is then not replaced.

In women, hormonal imbalances can also cause hair loss. Pregnancy, childbirth and menopause all cause significant hormonal change and imbalances with both physical and mental effects. These changes can also cause hair loss, both temporary and permanent.

Hair loss and re-growth products have been around for centuries. In ancient times, a variety of herbal and oil-based remedies were concocted and used by Egyptians, Aztecs, Mayans, and American Indians, all with some degree of effectiveness for some people. Modern medical research has focused on ways to re-open and stimulate “dead” hair follicles, so that hair growth can re-occur naturally, as well as keep the healthy follicles healthy. Thus, a number of products have become available, both by prescription and over-the-counter. They are advertised on radio and television and all over the Internet. One need only do a “google” search on hair loss, and there are literally thousands of sites and products for investigation.

One ingredient in many hair loss products is minoxidil. Research studies have shown that in about 80% of the participants, products containing this ingredient are effective in slowing hair loss and, in some, causing re-growth to occur.

Probably the most well known is Rogaine, available at any drug store, in varieties for both men and women. Most scientifically-produced products do have separate products for males and females, because, of course, hormones in each are different and of different levels.

An additional product containing minoxidil is Provillus, and, again, studies have shown it to be effective. The difference between Provillus and other similar products is that the makes have added Azelaic Acid, an additional ingredient which appears to enhance the follicle repair in both men and women. Provillus has been the subject of many studies, just as the other products, and level of effectiveness may be higher.

Provillus is available for both men and women, and the treatment is a combination of a topical liquid applied to the balding areas, as well as a pill or capsule to be taken in conjunction with the liquid. The critical key to effectiveness, according to its makers, is the addition of the azelaic acid, however, the correct amount of this acid is most important piece of this treatment.

As with most hair loss products, the makers recommend patience. It may take from 3-6 months for improvement to occur, however, there is a money-back guarantee up to 180 days if one is not satisfied that it is working for him/her.

Medical research is far from finished in its exploration of products which will stop hair loss and promote re-growth of “permanent” loss. As this research continues, existing producers will undoubtedly alter their products accordingly.

Fortunately, a lot of money is being poured into the research, so hair loss sufferers, take heart!
Women Can Lose Hair from From hormones but in most cases its heriditary. The best resolution would be treatment. The human body is a complex organism and each individual responds differently to drugs and medications. What works for some may not work for others. Provillus contains the clinically tested ingredient Minoxidil 2% approved by the FDA to help re-grow your hair. Minoxidil 2% is FDA approved topical ingredient clinically shown to help re-grow your own natural hair. It is a blood vessel dilator and has anti-androgen properties. Women Me sure you take the 2%. What Can I do to prevent hair loss as a young woman? Is it my diet or conditioner?

Occasionally I lose a bunch of hair. This morning I took a shower and wound up with hair all over the place. This doesn't happen all the time but it will about once a week or so. I east very healthy but I do not eat any meat or poultry. I Strictly eat seafood and vegetables, whole grains, fruit etc., but no red meat or land animals. I do eat a lot of Tilapia fish that does have high mercury levels. Does this have anything to do with my hair?

My friend suggested to me to take prenatal vitamins. Does that actually improve the look of hair, skin, and nails? or will i get enough of those vitamins with a regular multi?

I also started to condition my hair with coconut oil instead of regular conditioner because it makes my hair fall out!! im sure many women know what im talking about.

I'm not extremely concerned that I'll go bald or anything lol but please give me some suggestions! What Can I do to prevent hair loss as a young woman? Is it my diet or conditioner?
hair loss can come from many sources, genetics, diet, stress, chemical, etc. Some of the things you can do to help prevent this is to use a gentle shampoo (avoid sodium laurel sulfate) take proper whole food vitamins ( chemically based vitamins do not work) try to watch your stress levels, do not color your hair with chemically based color, take MSM and these will help the non genetic component of hair loss. What Can I do to prevent hair loss as a young woman? Is it my diet or conditioner?
Vitamins B, C, F, zinc, iron, copper and protein are essential for hair growth. Drinking plenty of water and eating plenty of raw fruits and vegetables is probably the best way to achieving healthy hair. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairfall.blogspot.com/ for more info.

  • Hair loss- 22 yr-old woman- PLEASE Help~!?

My parents have lush thick black hair, and I did too up until a month ago. I appreciate it!!Hair loss- 22 yr-old woman- PLEASE Help~!?
Please answer my questions and I can give you a good responce as I have done a lot of reading up on this since it happened to my sister.

Do you have regular periods? If yes are they of normal flow? If no then how often on average per year?

    How is your diet?

How do your nails look? Is your skin in great condition?

Are you using the same shampoo/conditioner as normal? Have you changed recently?

Many factors can determine this problem. I myself have noticed my hair has been thinning a lot and it used to be so long and thick. I have an overactive thyroid which is an extremely common problem for women of our age-group and usually results in hair becoming brittle/less full of life. Medication sorts that out no problem.

Answer my questions and I will go on from there.

One last thing - you might be due a hair cut, as once I let my hair get so long it became unhealthy xHair loss- 22 yr-old woman- PLEASE Help~!?
You can fix this by trying out natural methods. Go to this webpage:

hair loss due to genes happens and theres not much you can do for that except like rogain type products to slow the loss. but there is a condition called Alopecia. here is the medical def for stress alopecia..Stress alopecia, a type of telogen effluvium, is temporary, reversible, diffuse hair loss on the scalp that results from severe emotional or physiological stress. Normally, about 90% of scalp hair follicles are in the growing anagen phase, and about 10% to 15% are in the resting catagen and telogen phases. Stress causes anagen hairs to convert prematurely into telogen hairs, which means that more than the normal number of hairs are in the telogen phase and ready to shed. the best thing is to see a doc for it but since you don't have insurance you need to research online to see if there are ';home remidies'; you can try. i don't know any off the top of my head. take care
Alepicia is actually a common problem - basically your immune system is attacking hair follicles. If anything it is probably that. Do you notice any balding spots or thinning roots. If not, your ends are probably just breaking off. Do a hair-pull test on yourself - pinch some hair at your roots and gently pull - not hard enough to pull them out - just enough. If some hairs come out anyway, it's probably alepicia. If you are noticing balding spots, here's what you can do.

Pure' a bunch of tomatoes and smear it on your scalp. Put on a shower cap and leave it for an hour.

Rumor has it that if you crush up birth control pills (free and planned parenthood) and put them in your shampoo, the hormones help with hair growth.

Change your shampoo and conditioner to a vitamin and moisture-rich brand and apply conditioner to your entire scalp - not just the ends.

When it comes down to it, you will need to see a dermatologist. I will also say that hair loss due to stress is probable. Most of these cases don't even know they are stressed out - and some turn out to have PTSD - hair loss is relatively common symptom of that. I just thought I would throw that out there just as an FYI.
Honestly, the only serious response to something like that is to send you to your doctor... I wish you well.

Hair loss, 20 year old woman?

About two years ago I dyed my hair with some hair dye that was on sale (I should have known). After I rinsed clumps of hair fell off and it continue to for a few months. Unfortunately I was left with a small bald patch. I've also notice my temples thin. I don't know what to do anymore. Its frustrating. I haven't dyed my hair since but the patch hasn't filled in. I just notice tiny hairs recently. If I go see a dermatologist about how much would they charge me with no insurance? Thanks for any feedback you can give me!Hair loss, 20 year old woman?
The hair dye was probably expired! But you should go see a dermatologists, I am not sure how much it will cost, but until then try putting oil in your hair. The oils that are good for your hair are coconut oil, olive oil and castor oil (if you have a dry scalp for castor oil). Try massaging your scalp every night and rinse your hair in cold water. But if you would like to use other products heres a link!

    http://www.timeformecatalog.com/cgi-bin/

Hope I helped! Oh yeah why dont you try Nioxin that will stop shedding for a while but later it will stop helping! But good luck!Hair loss, 20 year old woman?
It sounds like you have been unlucky, probably with an out of date or cheap hair dye.

The clumps of hair that have gone have gone, if there are tiny hairs there then you still have some live growth cells so if you treat it right it should grow back perfectly in the long term.

Dermatologists can be expensive and will more than likely work with a drug company and will then point you in the direction of a certain drug based treatment (they make money by selling these drugs). Obviously the will offer you good advice which is worthwhile taking on board.

Personally, when I have any ailments I like to go down the natural route, do some research and look for reputable products with guarantees (free trials, money back etc).

Good luck and I'm sure you'll get it back.

You can call the dermatologist office and ask how much a consult is. You may have used an outed bottle of dye or left it in too long. If you try to dye your lighter than your natural colour that can cause your hair to fall out. The bleaching chemicals in it wreak havoc on your hair. But 2 years is a long time to not have your hair grow back. Seeing a derm would be a good idea.Hair loss, 20 year old woman?
I just went to a Dr. to day and told him I have no insurance and they charged me half the normal price. Call first and see what they say over the phone. Good Luck

I'm only 33 year old woman and I'm experiencing hair loss. It's quite embarassing. Any suggestion?

When it comes to hair loss and weight gain, why is there a double standard between men and women?

Why is it more acceptable for men to lose their hair and to gain weight while women are scrutinized for the same battle men fight against every day. Millions of women suffer from male pattern boldness as well as we do weight gain. It's just as heartbreaking and shameful for us women as it is for men however our double standards says a woman is basically unworthy if she is over weight or suffers from hair loss. Ironically, a lot of women is to blame for perpetuating such double standard by judging other women by the length of our hair and the mass of our bodies. No wonder so many of us has low self esteem. Why do we live by these two particular double standards? When it comes to hair loss and weight gain, why is there a double standard between men and women?
I really can't tell you, but women are supposed to be ';pretty';?When it comes to hair loss and weight gain, why is there a double standard between men and women?
because we must be pretty and they must be clever, smart etc !:D

Try Hair loss remedies at http://www.hairthinning.org/
It really depends on why your hair has began falling out....

The hair grows in 3 phases (every individual hair goes through each of 3 phases in it's life time)...

I wont bore you with the scientific names and I'll talk about just 2 phases here for simplicity's sake, but it's difficult for me to advise you without explaining all this, so in layman's terms...

    1st phase - Growing.

Depending on the individual, around 80%26amp; of the hairs on your head are in this phase. Each hair is connected to it's own little blood supply/nerves etc at the root, which feeds the hair and enables it to grow - the hairs that hurt when you pull them out are in this phase. It can last for between 2 %26amp; 11 yrs before the hair automatically goes into the next phase.

    2nd phase -Rest

this is when the follicle (the tiny tube that the hair grows in) rests. Recent scientific research shows that the follicle actually moves away from the hair root and 'puts its feet up' for a bit. The hairs which you see in your brush/plughole, are the ones that were in this phase - after sitting in the follicle unattatched to blood supply or nerves, when brushed just falls away. (thats why it's normal to loose up to 100 hairs every day)

So how does that apply to you?

Well it's when something goes wrong - either with the blood supply to the hair itself or with the phases that you loose hair.

If the hair is unable to get sufficient nourishment for some reason than the hair will not grow correctly -thin wispy weak hair, or will not grow at all - seen as hair 'loss'.

    This can have many causes..

    1) poor diet - not enough nourishment in the blood

    2) poor blood circulation due to a general problem with cirulation, or a tight scalp which constricts blood flow to the hair root.

3)physical or emotional stress which causes the body to redirect bloodflow to more vital tasks.

If the 3 phases of growth are knocked out of kilter (remember approx 80% of the hairs on yr head should be in phase one) then too many hairs will be sent to phase 3 too quickly and at the same time - therefore lots of your hairs fall out before they should giving rise to patches of baldness or more general thinning. This can be caused by :-

    1)hormonal factors

2)shock/stress - again quite likely due to pregnancy/new family

(A perfect example of this form of hair loss is Chemotherapy where the poison sends all the hairs on your head into 3rd phase and thus they fall out- when the chemo stops the phases right themselves again eventually and so the hair grows back.)

3)some sort of more serious health problem - I don't mean to frighten you but hair loss can occasionally be a sign of an underlying issue which may require attention so if you have any other unexplained symptoms visit your GP.

It's difficult to establish which of these is at the heart of the problem, or whether its a bit of eveything. It's perfectly possible that the birth of you child effected your hormones, and created a physical shock/extra stress which could easily have sent the cycle of growth out of balance and that this hasn't righted itself, when you add to that the pressures of motherhood and studying ond the effect that has on your diet, your stress levels and your general health. Problems with our hair and skin can be the body's early warning system so please do pay attention to your diet and lifestyle if possible, also obviously as I don't know you this may not be relevant but i feel I ought to mention that postnatal and other forms of depression can cause hair loss (especially when undiagnosed or untreated).

Medication can have hairloss as a side effect so check that out as well if you're taking any.

My advice would be multi pronged

1)visit your GP -it may be a hormonal thing -(incidentaly if he/she looks at you like ';fancy coming to the doctors with hairloss'; then see someone else!) You can also mention any other symptoms or issues which may unbeknownst to you, be related.

2)Get yourself some neck and scalp massage to improve blood circulation, either professionally or just do it yourself with some nice oil, or even dry rubbing when ever you think about it during the day is better than nothing. (the scalp should move seperately and freely over the skull if it doesn't then this suggests it's tight and wont be helping the blood supply (and can give you headaches!)

3)try to reduce stress levels and or learn some form of relaxation technique if you don't already .

3)go to your local health food shop and get a good quality vitamin mineral supplement they should be able to advise you, but do make sue you tell them of any medication/health problems you have because of interaction.

And pay attention to your diet.

    4)choice of shampoo....

shampoos etc from the chemist/supermarket are only able to make the hair which is left thicker by adding stuff to it etc, so while it may be helpful to use products for thin/thinning hair from a purely cosmetic point of view, they wont deal with the underlying problem.

However the NIOXIN system mentioned by someone else is excellent and well worth it as it deals with all of the causes except underlying illness, hormanal factors and stress - but only if you use it properly. I have used it professionally and my clients got very good results but only when they used it as advised (it's no good if you only use half the system or not regularly enough) I'm not in salon anymore as I left to teach instead but I'm sure if you if you google it I'm sure you'll find a stockist/online retailer. (if you do try it don't use any oil to massage with or ANY other product on your hair/scalp as it can create a barrier to the nioxin)

If none of that works then I would definately ask for a referall to a dermatologist, or even better see a tricologist although I doubt you'd get that on the NHS.

hope some of that helps sorry it's so long winded but I wanted to give you the same answer I would give a client.
there is a connection most women suffer hair loss when pregnant or just after not much you can do if hair is coming out at the root then it may not grow back does depend on blood supply to the head but not creams or medicine sorry you can go to your doctors to see if it is stress related though but good diet does go along way and if the hair is not falling from the root then dont worry it will grow back could be hormones from pregnancy hope i have helped alittle
I got that problem twice before and now have it again. Go to your GP who might possibly refer you to a dermatologist because you could have a thing called allepecia (I think thats how you spell it...) which is what I have. Every day I use a steroid gel on my hair which stimulates hair growth, after my dermatologist at the hospital told me to use it and although it hasn't worked yet there are so many options (tablets, injections, creams etc) that can be taken for this problem that theres no need to worry and its not usually serious.
Hi it would seem that the answer is in your medical condition

however that does not stop you have lovely hair, regular trims for the split ends, and micro trims, the pregnancy will certainly have effected the condition of your hair, invest in a really good conditioner and treat it and yourself, hope things improve for you real soon, then treat yourself to a salon visit

beware of any dyes as your hair maybe porous as well

also no excessive heat in blow drying and straighteners

    best wishes
I had a similar problem a couple years ago attributed to poor nutrition. I tried Nioxin and really saw a difference. You can check their products out at www.nioxin.com if you want more information. You really only need the cleanser, scalp therapy (conditioner), and the scalp treatment. And you should probably keep the routine up for 2 months. I know Ulta usually has some deals on it. Also, it could be from stress and even vitamin deficiency. Definitely make sure you are eating enough foods and taking a multi-vitamin. Good luck!

  • Apart from PCOS what could cause unwanted hair growth on face/stomach/breast and loss of head hair in a woman?

I had a blood test and my hormone levels are normal, yet I have those symptoms. My hair on my head is thinning but as fast as I pluck body/face hairs they're coming back within a couple of days and I hate it.

What could be causing it? Has anyone else experienced this and would going on the pill help?Apart from PCOS what could cause unwanted hair growth on face/stomach/breast and loss of head hair in a woman?
Possibly an underactive thyroid. Other than that, it could be an hereditary condition. Ask your doc if your thyroid function was checked as well as your other hormone levels. Also, you could have hormone levels within normal range and still have PCOS. An ultrasound would confirm this.Apart from PCOS what could cause unwanted hair growth on face/stomach/breast and loss of head hair in a woman?
The pill could help , but you would be better going back to the doctors , if you are trying for a baby then going back on the pill will just delay it even longer , Ive pocs myself and the hairs drive me mad as well , I've a pair of tweezers in my hand all the time.
    Stress can cause this.

Buy a scanning laser hair removal system.

Also there is another condition called ALLAPRECHAIRiota. I know i spelt it know. Its a loss of hair. I had that when i was 18 and I had to get steroid shots in my head. It was humilating and scarey. ut my hair grew back..

hugs go see your dr. tcHair loss in young woman?
get your thyroid checked immediately, simple blood test. I have hypothyroid, and thats how it started with me
Most hair loss in women is HEREDITY. Does your mother have a history with hair loss? You should see a hair stylist who specializes in those problems.
Sounds like a hormone or thyroid issue. Possibly stress, too. If you've been in a stressful situation (school, work, romance, whatever) it'll make you put on weight and thin your hair. Try joining a yoga class for awhile - the extra exercise might help your hormones balance out, and the stress-relieving factor might also do the trick. If you don't think it's any of these, check with your doctor.

    Good luck!

I am a 47 year old woman who has total hair loss. Any suggestions?

I can't ask this question with out praising God. You may wonder why. Considering I grew up as the prettiest girl in my home town church. I was the one that turned folks heads and made mouths drop open. My biggest asset was my dark thick hair. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the first of the year, then learned it was in my lynmph nodes, and I also had 10 tumors in my liver. The medical team had silently given me up. I did not learn that till just a few months ago. My husband and I got into the Word of God and gave our tithes and offerings. I went to a great doctor. I'm cleared of all tumors. PTL! I was suppose to have chemo, radiation, and radical surgory. I'm now off the chemo, and only on herception. (That is great stuff!) I might have very little surgory. So now I'm left with fuss on my head. I can't tell my story and not rejoyce in God's awesome power. But do any of you have, Any ideas?I am a 47 year old woman who has total hair loss. Any suggestions?
wow! I say you are one lovely lucky person! Praise the good Lord sweetie. There must be lots of people who'd rather lose their hair than their life! Anyway, your hair will grow back, it's only hair......... in the meantime, go to a professional wig shop and let them fit you properly so your temporary hair will look as natural and feel as though you have no wig on. After your hair grows back you may still choose to wear the wig! God has blessed you and given you many more happy and healthy years to come. Embrace them and don't fret the hair. Also, maybe you can take vitamin B and also Evening Primrose vitamins. These are supposed to help with hairloss. Good luck to you and remember,,,rejoice in your newly blessed life and don't fret the small stuff sweetie.I am a 47 year old woman who has total hair loss. Any suggestions?
A family member of mine once sufferd the same thing as you,and once again, glory be.She was healed and had her cancer removed yet she still did have to do chemo.

(of course). She lost all her hair from the pill she was taking and,the best advice I could give you,got a wig that looked like her old hair.If you cant find a wig that looks like your old hair,

just try something else you like.

I hope luck may shine upon you again,

    and that these tips help.
Congrats on your success story! I tell my patients to have fun with wigs. Go out and get something you might never normally do to you hair. Go red or blonde. Or go short and spiky. Just try on some wigs and see what tickles your fancy.

Just in case nobody has warned you, your hair may not grow back the way it was before. The color and texture may be different.
First of all, Congrats on beating cancer. It sucks that one of the side effects is losing your hair. Find some pretty scarfs to wear, find a nice wig that you like, you can even consult a hair dresser to help you find and style a wig you like (my hair dresser did that for a client of his)....and the best part is that your hair will eventually grow back, so for now have some fun with it, and try out some new hair styles!! Good luck, and ENJOY LIFE!! YOU ARE VERY LUCKY!
go to ur local hair store and purchase a wig one thats fits u and u like and even ask about how do u care for them Get Educated
    Wait until the fuzz grows.

    Purchase a wig.

    Pray your hair grows back?
    Hello Sister,

my mom has this also but she didn't take any radiation or chemo. and she's just fine but she did have it removed
Patience, your hair will grow back. I didn't like the idea of wigs so I wore scarves and hats. Wear a gorgeous smile and heads will still turn and not to stare at the fuzz.
Your hair will come back eventually.

Purchase a nice wig until then. You can get your doc. to write a prescription for the wig, and your insurance may cover some of the cost. [mine did].

Praise God for His healing and miracle-working power.

    I am.
My son was diagnosed 20 months ago with a rare abdominal sarcoma with multiple tumors everywhere in the body. He underwent high dose chemotherapy and after a few months lost most of his hair. The rest stayed fuzzy and to me quite beautiful for a few more months. He than lost all hair on his head, eyelashes, eyebrows, and body hair. It never looked odd to me at all. I thought it made him look distinquished (he was 17 years old). Eventually, he was off the chemo that had made him lose his hair, and was on a type that did not. So his hair began to grow back, soft and stubby . . but I always felt like touching it . . and as you can imagine he hated me to do that! But, what's a mother to do. I supplied him with beanies, caps, scarves, and anything he wanted to cover his head. But other than when it was too cold or too hot outside he just could not be bothered. He just went out the way he was.

He's on chemo again, and this time he says that he's going to shave it all off and just get it all over with so he doesn't lose it slowly like before.

My feeling is that he wears the baldness as a display of courage . .

Wrap your head in pretty scarves or wonderful hats if you wish . . or a nice wig . . or if you prefer confront the world just exactly the way you are . . because you are probably beautiful without hair.

    Peace to you. ;-)
I am a 9 year survivor of breast %26amp; ovarian cancer, had my hair fall out and grow back in 3 times, it's a blast! Yes it takes it's own sweet time to grow back, think of it this way saving so much money on hairdressing visits! I did the same as most people bought the scarfs and hats, we bought some crazy and wild ones at that. I sometimes waxed and spiked my fuzzy bits up, my daughters used markers and drew pictures on the bare spots. Chemo and radiation sucks, you earned that fuzz be proud of it! Herception is a WONDERFUL drug, i had a relapse at the start of the year, i am now clear praise be to that drug and prayer. Never, Never give up, i pray you are healthy soon, God Bless
My aunt was in the same boat and while she waited for her hair to grow in (it came in curly), she bought a variety of hats and scarves. Worked for her and she looked very nice in them. Unless you looked real close you couldn't hardly tell she was bald.
for the time being, use a good simonize type wax and soft cloth buff to a high gloss, and relax, your hair will grow back, it just takes a little time for your body to rid itself of all the chemicals and return to its former luster you`ll be surprized because all of the gray will be gone, good luck and GB.

Reasons for hair loss in a 19 year old woman?

idk if i might be pregnant but i already got my thyroid test and diabetes test and they were negative. it just keeps falling out and im always tired.does anyone know what it could be??Reasons for hair loss in a 19 year old woman?
Deppression/stress/hair products/live anywhere near powerplant?Reasons for hair loss in a 19 year old woman?
hormones, stress, weight-loss, yes, pregnancy especially if you are tired all the time.
Stress is a big factor to lose hair, especially in females. Weigh your priorities, your health is much more important than small short goals.
    genetics
Stress is a definite possibility. As a 19 year old kid, the stress of school could definitely get to you. I don't want to scare you, but cancer is also a possibility. If you're on any medication, the side affects may be along those lines. Or, it may be something simple like your shampoo/conditioner is too much for your scalp to handle, or it may be an allergic reaction to that or something else. Have you had any other symptoms?

Talk to a doctor and explain to them what's going on.
im 20 and i do it but the main reason hair falls out i know this bc mom hairdresser if you take a shower every other day you will loose more hair if you are on medications could make you lose hair other then that have no clue go see doc the reason i do is im on medication and take shower every other day depending on how busy i am
Stress, an allergy maybe, sometimes birth control can have that side effect
I found this dor you in a specialized website for hair loss treatment.

1.Diet: An unbalanced diet, especially one without enough protein, can cause temporary hair loss. Women who are anemic often experience loss.

2.Improper Care: If you manipulate your hair too much, color and treat too much, blow dry and heat with curling irons and hot rollers too much, you will see increased hair loss. You need only to look at your bathroom floor, sink and countertops to notice this.

3Heredity: Heredity plays a part and comes from both sides of the family.

4.Alopecia Areata: This is an autoimmune condition characterized by circular patches of baldness. Basically, the body is attacking the hair follicles. Cortisone shots in the affected areas are required, and the earlier the better.Take heart. There鈥檚 a lot of research going on which may soon resolve most of the causes of hair loss in women. However, there is a great product that has been proven effective. It is called Provillus. Provillus is an oral supplement, which works to block DHT, a form oftestosterone that is responsible for 95 percent of hair loss. It also works to stimulate the scalp and bring dead follicles back to life. You can use Provillus as a preventative tool, starting the program before hair loss becomes severe, or you can use it after DHT has already begun to take hold of your hair and scalp.
Stress.. Look at the website below and maybe this will help you out..
My sister had the same thing, at 42. And her hair is growing back. For her, they thought maybe lupus, but that test came back negative. It most likely is stress...and the body can develop autoimmune responses for many reasons. If you're always tired....you could be deficient in some vitamin or mineral....you got a blood test, and everything came back ok?
It is stress. Being pregnant wouldn't do it.

    * i had a skin condition called alopecia (spelling?) that caused my hair to fall out when i was that age

    * stress can do it for sure

    * could be genetics (?)

    * lack of nutrition (anorexic peole have that problem)

hormones, but after you had you child it grows back thicker and longer but you get other problem's
    alopecia maybe

    check for that

    its a hairloss disease

two of my friends have it
I would think it's stress and how much hair? I shed a lot especially when I need a hair cut. FYI Cancer does not cause you to lose hair the chemo that treats cancer does.
    have you been eating alright???
Get yourself tested for some kind of poisoning immediately.

The two symptoms you have described as ';being tired all of the time'; and ';hair loss as a 19 year old woman'; is not normal for any 19 year old. Pregnancy does not make your hair fall out.

The only other things I can think of is Radon if you live in a basement- Radon is under ground radiation, hence loss of hair and weakness.

Check the following links for symptoms, if they match, that is what you got. See a doctor ASAP.

I am no Doctor, it could be a numerous of things also mentioned here by others. Only a Doctor would know what is wrong with you.
Could be from stress or other medications.
Have your testosterone level tested,it could be elevated.
I was going to say thyroid until I read the rest of your question. Stress could be a factor, but I think you should go to another physician and see if they can refer you to some sort of specialist. I know a lack of iron can make you tired, but I don't think it causes hair loss. I hope you find your answer. Take care.
stress avon actually sells healthy hair pills for about $10.00 and biotin is also good. Check with your doctor to see if you can take biotin pregnant. good luck.
    Hmmm....cancer?
