Does low estrogen levels in women cause hair loss?

just had a baby and hair is falling out. I know it's normal for a certain period of time but when will it stop!!?Does low estrogen levels in women cause hair loss?
in a few monthes when ur hormones level out again if it persist after ur baby turns 6 monthes or so ask ur doc about itDoes low estrogen levels in women cause hair loss?
Mine fell out more than normal from about 4 months postpartum to about 7 months with both babies. It seemed like a lot of hair in the shower but I still have plenty!
look this helps you
When you are pregnant, your hair goes into a resting phase meaning that it stops its normal shedding and regrowing cycle. After pregnancy, the cycle restarts and it seems like you're losing your hair. Just be patient and everything should go back to normal.

What doctor should I see for women's hair loss?

The general doctor I saw a while back said it was no big deal. I can pick up all my hair into a ponytail with a tiny little clip and I'm 25. That's a big deal! Even my hairstyling said my line is thinning too much.

It falls in clumps especially after showering and during the day i shed everywhere. I already use nutri-ox and have upped my calcium intake. What the heck should i do???What doctor should I see for women's hair loss?
Go see a dermatologist, that's what i did when my hair was falling out. I found out it was a side effect from a medication i was taking. They will be able to help you :-)What doctor should I see for women's hair loss?
A tricologist is the best person to see for this problem

You probably should see an Endocrinologist because you could have a Thyroid problem %26amp; it could cause you to have a lot of hair loss.
Bunny, try either a dermatologist or a trichologist. In the mean time, I suggest you read up on this site and see whether you can adapt some of its recommendations to address your problems:

use a product that is supposed to help hair grow back. they dont help hair grow back, just keep it from falling out. so try that. even if its for men.
Dermatologist
first consult your gp, then maybe try a trycologist if that is not succesful......good luck

Unfortunately hair loss is the same in both over or under also if she is taking medicine like synthroid to control it, it also can cause hair loss as well. I haven't heard of anything other then Rogaine but maybe there is something better there is this one stuff I seen but dont know whether it really works or not. Its called scalpmed tell your mom I feel her pain thyroid disorder is not only annoying but also can be depressing at times. Good luck with finding something though. Oh and tell your mom to check out this website it has a program that is awesome for us in the way of reducing the thyroid affects. www.womentowomen.com.
Daily application of refined coconut oil, mixed with lime juice on the hair, prevents hair loss and lengthens it. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.

  • What causes hair loss in women and how can it be controlled?

I've heard some hair loss in women can be expected with age but are there any natural nutrients that can be used to help or aid in controlling the problem? Its kinda sad to see ones tresses go down the drain after shampooing. What causes hair loss in women and how can it be controlled?
Biotin lots of biotin(found in the vitamin section). You'll notice results within 1 month even. Take it faithfully though. My hair is starting to fill in again. Try pre natal vitamins too. Stay away from the cheap shampoos that lather a lot, they will strip and weaken your hair.

Biotin is famous for making hair stronger again. It really will help you. Be patient and you will see. What causes hair loss in women and how can it be controlled?
Early prevention is important, and experimenting with shampoos during these early stages may provide invaluable help in reducing the rate of loss. For more information visit: http://www.provillus.com/?aid=623052

I' ve heard that one of the reasons that causes hair loss is stress and some of the shampoos and hairgels and stuff. If you don't get the proper vitamins and nutrition, your hair may be the first thing to show it to the world. Hair is ultra-sensitive to good nutrition and vitamins, and there are actually several vitamins that can specifically can help your hair grow and look healthy
While some hair fall daily is natural, stress, hairstyle products and lack of nutrition can cause excessive hair fall as listed at http://tinyurl.com/kshvn . By changing your lifestyle and using herbal remedies, you can reduce hair loss. More details available at http://tinyurl.com/py7z4 .
i think wrong shampoo / stress / what u eat had something to do with your losing hair.
the above answers are good. need to check for hormonal causes also, like hypothyroidism, but the main culprit is heredity. the clue for heredity is 'male pattern baldness' and runs in your family's females; it is treated with rogaine. stress, postpartum status, and low thyroid can do it. there are other hormone problems that can do it too. if it doesn't run in your family i would get checked by a doctor.

shampoo/conditioner and hard water can do it to some people as dying hair and other treatments.
It could be stess, diet. Excersise is good for relieving stress. Relaxation tapes. Check your diet, be sure your eating the right kinds of food. There is a natural supplement you can buy at Wal-mart. I forget what it is called but I believe it is clearly stated for hair. I heard if you eat jello it will help the growth of finger nails and hair.

Check your head for bald spots. If you have round bald patches then you may have what is called alpesia. Go to your doctor they will give you a cream or shots in the scalp. (steroids) It is to stimulate hair growth. The cream didn't work for me but the shots did.

I have noticed that when I don't eat right and I get stressed out I lose my hair. (extremely stressed out, not the normal every day stress.) (I get bald spots) My hair has always grown back. The first time I had the shots. The last two times I changed my eating habbits and tried relaxing a bit more.

Like you said some hair loss is normal but not clumps of hair.

    Good luck to you
sometimes stress can make ur hair fall, poor nutrition. try prenatal vitamins coz it has biotin. foods rich in protein like eggs, fish and soya products. drink lots of water. u can try olive oil, use it before bedtime and wash it in the morning. enough sleep.

What is the best shampoo for women's hair loss?

I am only in my twenties, but I am beginning to lose my hair due to coloring, straightening, and stress. What is the best shampoo/conditioning system to use? I've heard Nioxin works well. Are there any other options? What is the best shampoo for women's hair loss?
I would recomend Nioxin. It's carried by salons and has all sorts of styling aids as well. This product is not a drug so hair folicles that have already died will not grow back but it will help keep the hair you have. Try a shampoo like T-Gel or Medi Dan. You may have a scalp fungus.

Your scalp needs to be treated. Excessively dry scalp or when you do shampoo you are not rinsing out the shampoo and the conditioner thoroughly.

I can suggest a Natural Hair lotion which is 100% free of chemicals. I have been using for almost one year

Ziravie combines tradition, science and nature to provide a mixture of natural nutrients, minerals and vitamins, which act on the scalp in depth, that in turn stimulates strong, healthy, robust hair growth, strengthening hair roots, and reduces thinning , hair loss and baldness.

I used to buy from Spain but now it is available on ebay.co.uk under ID of hair-treatment. It is called Ziravie.

They offer external and internal nutrition which helps a lot. Using this lotion I feel Health and Beauty comes into Harmony

Maybe it's some type of form of scalp problem.

Women hair loss I need help please! ?

    Hi,

I'm 24 and I've always had a thin widows peak type of thing with my hair line and just recently I've noticed that it's getting worse. It's scaring me! Now, I'm on birth control, but for a good couple of months I haven't been taking it consistently, could this cause hair thinning?

Also I've gone Pescatarian and I don't know if maybe that could be making my hair thin due to not enough vitamins?

And lastly, I've always been a stressed out person, but for the last couple of months I've been a little extra stressed.

Could all of these be possibilities of my hair loss? And if so and if you have experienced any of this... Did it grow back for you? Or do you think it would? I'm thinking about buying Rogaine for Women.

    Any feed back would help,

Thank you!Women hair loss I need help please! ?
Colon cleansing is the modern method to shed weight. Boffins have illustrated the point that not all extra weight is thanks to surplus fat, a lot of weight simply rests there in the insides, and all you have to do is flush it out. http://finagsyourpersonaldiet.info has a risk free trial on at the moment, give it a try out, you can shed as much as twenty pounds!Women hair loss I need help please! ?
I think the main contributor would be genetics. What is your mom麓s hair like? Your hair is basically protein so therefore you need enough protein for your body to make healthy hair. I would suggest either taking supplements or eating more meat. You can also get special vitamins for your hair like Biotine and geletin that come in a pill form. If you dye your hair it makes it look thicker because theres a coating of color on it. You can buy thickening shampoos. You might also want to check with your doctor just incase to see if a health condition is contibuting to the issue. I hope you figure it out.
If you are not getting adequate vitamins on your pescatarian diet, it could cause hair loss. Use www.fitday.com to track exactly what you eat for a few days to see where you are lacking.

A seemingly really silly thing is to make sure you are using iodized salt. A lack of iodine can cause hypothyroidism and thus hair loss.
Try a supplement that is specifically for hair growth. It will contain biotin.

Stress can lead to hair loss. Your biography is your biology. Is this saying familiar? ';I'm so stressed that I'm pulling my hair out!'; You need to get a handle on that, or nothing you do will make a difference in the long run. You'll always be sabotaging your other efforts.

I don't know what Pescatarianism is, but it sounds like your only protein is from fish. If it is, that's not a problem, where the rest of your diet might be. Is it balanced? A daily supplement will be helpful, regardless of what Pescatarianism is.
One thing i can tell u that I know is for u to start taking biotine, it is a kind of vitamine and is good for ur hair to make it grow and make it strong.
I know of a few people who so stressed one them was losing hair. So that person just relaxed on their vacation time, and it grew back a little. Try relaxing and stop stressing so much. If it still doesn't work go see a doctor before you try the rogaine. Mention what you posted here and maybe you will find a safer way to restore your hair.
sounds like you already know why you are losing your hair. Yes stress, poor diet, and hormones are the leading causes of hair loss in women, since you are not managing any of these, really there is no miracle cure that is going to stop it. You need to get your health and your body under control and you will stop losing your hair.

    Women hair loss?

i keep picking them until there's blood coming out. i been doing

cause my hair falling out? Please help!Women hair loss?
OKAY... I am not a DR but here you go the reasons women bald... #1 diet # 2 hormone change like thyroid problem #3 genetic #4 damage like relaxers, perms, color. if you are relly concerned talk to your obgyn in your next visit they can run tests that can rule out all of the above. What you can do take b complex vitimins use a product like nioxin you can tak pre natal vit. drink alot of water get a hair cut and ask your hairdresser OH YHEA STRESS TOOWomen hair loss?
well it could be from stress (alopecia areata), change in medications, stress on edges of hair (not sure if you wear extensions) also could result from hair being pulled to tight (pony tail) i strongly doubt it is from losing blood from constant picking of your lips, that's unheard of. i would suggest you do some research on hair loss, it is hard to give any type of advice because i don't know your lifestyle or what is going on in your life. hope the info helped.

How can women stop hair loss?

I am just 14 years old and i can't stop my hair fall. somebody help please! How can women stop hair loss?
Do you have split ends? Because hair that is split at the end is weaker and tends to break off more easily, say, when you're brushing it. To check, examine the tips of your hair and if it's split into two, there you have your answer. The only way to cure split ends is to cut hair above the level of the split.

Keep in mind that hair dryers, straighteners etc can make your hair more prone to breakage and dryness. Use a good shampoo and conditioner. And towel-dry your hair after washing it - never comb too aggressively or it will all fall out.

  • Is there a good remedy for women for hair loss?

My aunt is in her 70s and she is worried about hair loss. What is a good remedy for that?Is there a good remedy for women for hair loss?

Female Hair Loss Treatment:Each hair grows for a period of 2-6 years, goes through a short dormant period and then falls out as the follicle pushes through a new hair. When new hairs do not replace the old or when hair is coming out in clumps or sections, there is definite cause for concern.Female hair loss comes from a variety of causes some temporary, some permanent. Fortunately, regrowth occurs naturally when as these causes dissipate. Permanent hair loss occurs as a result of heredity and hormonal changes and unfortunately is not reversed naturally. Women usually see hair loss begin at areas of parts, where parts become wider. Female pattern baldness occurs primarily in the frontal areas; then, there is general overall hair loss, resulting in a continual thinning of the entire head with the scalp becoming more and more visible.Treatments for female hair loss include a number of things:1. Diet plays some role in hair loss, so it is important to commit to a healthy well-balanced diet at all times.2. Exercise increases blood circulation to all areas of the body, the scalp included. Some studies have shown that increased blood circulation to the scalp can assist in the stimulation of follicles to begin to produce hair again. 3. There are a number of natural herbal and oil remedies, most of which are topical, that is, they involve applying solutions directly onto the scalp with the effect of opening up closed follicles and enhancing the chance of hair production. These have varying degrees of success, dependent upon the individual.4. Wigs and hair extensions can provide non-permanent relief for sufferers and, fortunately, these are considered acceptable fashion accessories today.5. A number of medical products have also been developed specifically for females. It is important to state here that women must be certain that products they use are specifically designed for them. Male hair products often have ingredients which can be harmful to women, particularly those of child-bearing age. Medical products are available through prescription and over-the-counter. It would be wise to consult with a physician first, before using any of these, to be certain that they are not contra-indicated with any other medication currently being used and to be certain that the hair loss is not the result of some other medical condition. Is there a good remedy for women for hair loss?
Hair loss can be stopped through many natural ways.

    * Herbal medicines are there to end your problems. If herbal medication does not work for you, talk to your doctor.

    * Massage your hair. When you massage your hair, the blood flow on your head is increased. When the blood flow increases, your hair naturally regrows. Studies show that bald men have only 2% blood circulation on average, while men who grow their hair healthily have 10% blood circulation in their scalp.

    * Nutritious foods prevent hair loss too, especially those that are rich in protein and have low carbohydrate content. While you can include fatty acids in your diet, like soy, fish, canola oil and walnut, you need to stay away from foods with high fat content. Omega 3 fatty acids are highly recommended since these have anti-inflammatory properties that play a major role in keeping your hair healthy.

I would say not to use chemicals on your hair. She should go for some home remedies. Egg whites, lemon juice, oil massages, reducing stress and diet changes can

Hey hiee.......In Earlier days as well as now many people use coconut hair oil to get rid of hair loss problems.Coconut oil has many benefits and so they are also used along with home remedies as follows:

Boiling a few hibiscus flowers in coconut based oil, Filtering it and using it regularly can help control hair loss and thinning ...

A mixture of coconut oil, garlic and pepper is very effective in stimulating the growth of new hair.

While bathing, it is better to massage scalp for 10 to 15 minutes. Massage stimulates the blood circulation in the scalp. Do it everyday, which will lessen hairloss.

Basically all home made remedies were used during that time. How did women solve hair loss problems before the modern technology available?

The reason for your hair loss can be due to many different factors. The treatment will depend entirely on what is causing your loss. It could be your diet, menopause, improper hair care, stress... and the list goes on. You must determine the cause of Your hair fall, to find the treatment that is right for you.
I get troubled by this too. I though that only males experience hair loss but I notice that my hair has been thinning too. A friend recommended me this treatment and it did wonders for me. I notice that my hair's starting to get thicker, I love it!
Everyone is different, but this website might be able to answer your question better than I can - I know it has worked for a few people I know. And they have a free trial on right now that you can take advantage of. Hope it helps...

Which is the best dietary supplement or vitamin known for severe women hair loss?

I am very young, not even 18, and i've already tried many hair loss treatments without result.. Can you recommend any?Which is the best dietary supplement or vitamin known for severe women hair loss?
Several reasons can cause excessive hair lose. A severe illness or major surgery, nutritional deficiencies, hormonal problems, your current medicine intakes, certain hair treatments that use chemical dyes, bleaches, and straightening or curling agent, or autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks hair follicles causing hair on the head to fall out, etc.

    Supplements recommendations for hair lose:

B vitamins are important for the health and growth of the hair锛宔specially B6, biotin, folic acid锛?B5 (pantothenic acid and B3 (niacin)

    http://www.marketamerica.com/lcbeauty/in

For Vitamin B complex, I would recommend Isotonix line when available because Isotonix line it's the only oral supplements in the market with isotonic capability when mixing with certain amount of water. Any food or pills taken orally must be digested within our stomach and transported in an isotonic state before our body can absorb its nutrients, this process can take from 40 minutes to 4 hours. Remember our stomach is very high acidic, which means many nutritional values are lost during digestion.

This means that when we drink a supplement that鈥檚 isotonic, our stomach does not need to digest it, so that it can enter our small intestines for absorption within minutes. With Isotonix products, little nutritive value is lost, making the absorption of nutrients highly efficient while delivering maximum results.

Another supplement I would recommend is to increase omega-3 fatty acids in your diet.

Omega 3 provide anti-inflammatory property and it鈥檚 very important for healthy hair growth.

I would recommend Heart Health鈩?Essential Omega III Fish Oil

Some of my friends your age had a lot of sudden hair loss, but it came back on its own. It seems to be not that unusual. It could be stress or hormones.

If it were me, I would have my hormones tested to see if something unusual is going on. A general doctor can do these tests, but an Endocrinologist will know more about it.

I would also call Dr. Bob Marshall's radio show and get his opinion. You can call after the show if you to not want to be on the air. He is knowledgeable about things like this. Here is his website:

You can take supplements to make your hair grow faster. BioSil (or JarrowSil) is good. So is calcium.

And you can use a detergent-free shampoo, like Aubrey Organics.

Take a good hard look at external factors. I know that you if you take too many vitamins (like eating Flinstones like candy) it can cause hair loss, as well.
You should take plenty of green vegetables, fruits, sprouts, honey, cereals, nuts, grains, milk products, and no

cholesterol-rich food in your diet. Eat fish if non-vegetarian or else take soybeans, and raw vegetable salads. Good balanced diet keeps your skin and hair healthy. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.

Her almost complete loss of hair could be the reason for her hostility and bizarre behavior...

She should be disappointed, but not cruel to others because her hair is almost gone.

  • I'm a 28-year-old woman, and I'm experiencing a lot of hair loss. Why is that?

It's not falling out in patches to suggest baldness, so it's falling out all over. I'm getting new growth in its place, but its texture is quite fine and very frizzy. What can I do to remedy this?I'm a 28-year-old woman, and I'm experiencing a lot of hair loss. Why is that?
Most people associate hair loss as being a male problem not

so, in fact about 28 million American women suffer the effects of

female pattern baldness (technically known as androgenetic alopecia).

Symptoms of this condition are a general thinning of hair over the

whole scalp area and a moderate loss of hair on the crown of the

head or at the hairline. It is rare for women to develop completely

bald areas as men often do.

Hair loss in women typically begins around age 30 and becomes

noticeable around age 40. The process speeds up after menopause.

As with men, hair loss in women is caused by a combination of

Poor diet and nutrition, genetic and hormonal factors and

psychological stress. Among the common causes of female pattern

    baldness are:

    Malnutrition from an unbalanced diet

    Rapid weight loss from dieting

    Severe illness or surgery

    Prolonged emotional stress

    Anaemia or low blood count

    Thyroid abnormalities

    Abuse of drugs, especially amphetamines

Postpartum hormonal changes or discontinuation of birth control pills can also cause significant hair loss, but in most cases it is temporary, and hair will recover its body and lustre as the woman's body chemistry stabilizes.

So what can you do if you start noticing more hair on your hairbrush and less on your head? Current options include using prescription drugs such as Minoxidil (Rogaine) or exploring modern hair replacement, transplants, and cellcloning techniques. There are also many hairdressing products, which create the

illusion of added fullness and bounce.

Hair loss in women is often associated with crash dieting. Nutritional deficiencies are often the culprit. Fasting or an in correct diet often results in a shortage of vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene, and other antioxidants, leading to hair loss. Food supplements are a must when dieting.

Vegetarians often find their hair thinning and their hairline receding too, especially when they first switch to a meat-free diet. The culprit is usually a lack of protein in the body. When they increase the amount of non-animal protein soy products, for instance in their diets, hair loss stops and often reverses itself.

For all those concerned with hair loss the first ';port of call'; is to realize the importance that internal/external and cosmetic factors play in this regard.

The body is self-healing. Doctors cannot heal. They create a situation in which nature is able to do its work of healing, repairing and regenerating. So, too, with our hair.

Often by correctly regulating the body's metabolism and incorporating principals of a well balanced diet, longevity exercise (a simplistic

effective 5 step exercise routine derived from ancient yoga teachings)and hair workout techniques, great benefits can be obtained and should be incorporated before involving oneself in a course of treatment, products, and procedures, which are often unnecessary and involve considerable outlay.

Realize the importance of looking after your hair as it is natures own health barometer and as night follows day, your overall health and well being will flourish as well.

You can stop hair loss using many cheap and effective home remedies.Egg white, lemon juice, oil massage are other home remedies at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/hairfall.htm will prevent further problems.
IT COULD BE FROM A FEW MONTHS AFTER GIVING BIRTH TO A CHILD OR HORMONE CHANGES,STRESS,THYROID PROBLEMS OR AN ILLNESS BUT, I HAD MY TUBES TIED TOO WHICH CAUSED PROBLEMS WITH MY PERIODS........... I WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH HAIR LOSS AFTER TWO OF MY RELATIVES DIED THIS PAST YEAR. I WENT TO THE DOC AND SHE PUT ME ON BIRTH-CONTROL AND IT WORKED FOR ME.
R u under alot of stress?Or have u tied ur hair up too tightly? If u haven't trim ur hair in a long time, then u should do that to prevent hair loss. r u combing ur hair too hard when it's wet?u can choose to use a wide tooth comb or just brush ur fingers through ur wet hair.Do u have dandruff problem? Then u might need to use anti-dandruff shampoo. If u scratch ur scalp too hard when u shampoo ur hair,it might cause hair loss too.Hope this helps :)
stress, lack of nutrition, weight loss, thyroids, postpartum hairloss, it could be any of these things.
I'm 28 too and I've got a lot of hair, but it's very straight and ultra fine so it tends to be limp and won't hold a style most days. I would suggest two things - first, get your hair colored - it adds volume and structure to it - and I also get extensions if you can afford it (I can't, otherwise I would do that in a second!!!) It may be falling out due to stress.
FIrst off, you need to see your doctor and make sure you dont have any medical problems causing hair loss. Thyroid dysfunction is a big cause of hair loss, as is stress.

What causes patchy hair loss in women? I have been told stess. That's too general of an answer for me!?

I have had my thyroid checked, numerous blood tests. I have been told that it could be linked to sleep apnea. I've been tested for lupus. My doctor doesn't have any answers... I'm just wondering if she could be missing something. I am 33, I first experienced hair loss after the birth of my second daughter in 2002. I'll get a spot, usually on the right side of my head that starts out about the size of a pencil eraser. They have been as big as an orange! I'm talking smooth baby butt bald! Hair slowly grows back, but another spot will usually appear before the previous one is completely covered by new hair. Right now, I have a spot on the back of my head about the size of a golf ball. I am stressed worrying about my hair falling out. Other than that, I would not say that I am under any more stress than most. What causes patchy hair loss in women? I have been told stess. That's too general of an answer for me!?
stress definitely can cause hair loss. but have you been diagnosed with alopecia? alopecia is just baldness, and alot of women experience alopecia...maybe you should talk to your doctor about alopecia and whether or not your hair loss is a result of that. What causes patchy hair loss in women? I have been told stess. That's too general of an answer for me!?
The fact that the baldness moves could indicate ringworm. And I know that this is REALLY hard to get rid of once you have it. There are some teachers that develop this as a chronic disease because they're exposed to it so incessantly.
Yes, stress can be a major reason, but also a hormonal imbalance causes that as well. I'm experiencing the same thing. You'll have to ask your doctor and see if he can get you on some kind of hormone or if you want to do it naturally, then search the web on'; hormonal imbalance';. It all depends on what your body needs, so I can't just say ';Take this, this, and this and your problems will be cured.'; Your doctor may support you if you want to go natural, and help you figure out what you need to do, but usually doctors just want to put you on some kind of drug. Search all your options and go from there. Talk to people, or you could go to your local health food store and ask them their advice. I hope this helps. Good luck.
cholesterol medication could cause hair to fall out. you didn't say if your are on any meds, but that can cause hair loss.
Alopecia areata is an autoimmune malfunction. This mean your immune system attacks the hair follicles in the patch as if they were ';invaders';. Stress can bring it on, but it is common in families that have eczema, psoriasis, asthma.

Low thyroid function can be associated with it.

During menopause the placenta takes on the production of progesterone and levels rise dramatically. After childbirth there is a sharp fall in progesterone. In an indirect way progesterone can help you make stress hormones, but low progesterone is not usually the cause of alopecia areata - or lots more menopausal ladies would suffer - children also suffer.

Low iron levels have been associated with all forms of hair loss - so it may be worth getting your Ferratin level - iron stores checked.

    Regards

    Andy
There is a great shift in hormone levels after pregnancy and hair loss is very typical. It would be helpful to know if your doctor had your hormones checked. There is also a condition known as alopecia which has no known cause - they used to say stress, but they do not any longer. The fact that your hair grows back is the interesting (and hopeful) part.

I would definitely get to a dermatologist along the way - they can offer a different point of view.

Is there anything women can do for hair loss that really works and doesn't cost a ton of money?

I'm to young for my hair to be falling out at the rate that I'm going I wont hardly have any left when I reach my forties. I stress about really bad every time I go to fix my hair. I try not to do to much with my hair because it worry about it so much.Is there anything women can do for hair loss that really works and doesn't cost a ton of money?
Many people don't realize that hair loss is a problem, even for women. It is particularly distressful, and I sympathize with you since you've already got a plate full of stressors. The good news is there is help. There are all kinds of medical remedies available. If you're serious about remedying hair loss, see your doctor. You can also take steps to preserve the hair your have. One easy thing, only comb your hair from roots to ends. Anything else tangles and then pulls out hair in the detangling process. Follow this pattern also when you wash and condition your hair. Also, keep your hair cut short as weight will also increase fallout. Finally, Mane and Tail shampoo seem to help, and some judicious use of hair gel will make the hair you have seem thicker.

Beyond all of that, find a way to squeeze some time for yourself into your hectic schedule. Do something that relaxes you -- read a book, window shop with a friend, just sit and enjoy a cup of coffee on the porch. You have to take care of yourself or all of your body systems will suffer. Believe me, I've been there. Take care of you so you are able to take care of the important relationships you have -- with your children.

Sending you tons of good wishes,

~Tia~Is there anything women can do for hair loss that really works and doesn't cost a ton of money?
nioxin from ulta.com works it prevents hair that is already there from falling out....hairloss might run in your family also if someone on your mothers side is bald you could be at risk to loose your hair also you could try a hair loss center and they can replace your hair with hair from the back of your head
well what u can do is insteed of losing your hair u could take vitmans for hair, nails, feet
First of all let me tell you that stressing out is making matters worse off in terms of you loosing your hair, sister... five years ago I was over stressed and overworked as well depressed. One day I decided to go to a hair dresser because I got tire of doing my own hair for the simple reason that it had grown so long I could no longer manage it suffiently which led to moderate breakage. In any case as the hair dresser began his preliminary hair and scalp test he ask me if I was aware of the ball spot the size of a silver $ in the back of my head? and I was like what! and he was like... here feel for your self and here is a mirror, girl... I was in total shock as well disbeleif.

Long story short he advise that I see a dermotologist for hair loss and I did, she said that it was stress related and that it would grow back within four to six months with cortisiod injections for three to six month of treatments. She did mention that the first few months would be bareable but after that the skin would begin to thin in the effect sight and that I would begin to feel discomfort but could stop at anytime. I got up to the eight month and stop because the pain of it all was becoming on bareable as she mention. It wasn't just one injection it was thirty to forty within that patch of hair loss in order to wake up the hair shaft in that region of lost. I began to notice new hair folicles growing back after the second month of treatment a few scarttered hairs here and there and after a year that space filled up completly yet my hair was down to my but by then so I had this 12 inch short patch that would not ever catch up in time for the rest. But the injections will only be giving for stress related circumstances but thats up to the Dr to make that call so my advice to you is to make an appointment with a Derma in order to assess your condition.

Now for the other hair loss I have experienced they recommended a multi-vitamin, a prescribe hair and scalp oil and over the counter rogaine for women with 2% moxidal and once you begin taking it when and should the hair re-grows you must continue with it for a life time or you will loose it again. yess it works! I just have problems using it consistently therefore in up back to scare on but the vitamins does slow down the process!

Also if you are using chemicals you might be over processed which could be creating your loss instead and as a result you will need to cut it out and start off fresh and braids will do the same thing! Try Aphogee treatments it repairs the hair shaft but if its behyond saving it want work it will still fall out.

    Good luck
Try giving your hair a rest from all the chemicals you use on it...also try taking a multivitamin.
Make a habit: Massage the scalp for 10 to 15 minutes after bathing it with water. This stimulates the blood circulation and strengthens the hair follicles in the scalp.

Massage into the scalp and hair honey with egg yolk. Leave for a 1/2 hour, then rinse.

Massage almond oil on scalp 2-3 times a day, daily. This will stop further hair loss.

Rinse hair with a mix of apple cider vinegar and sage tea to help hair grow.

Apply a paste of hot olive oil, honey, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder before bath and keep for 15 minutes.

Apply juice of coriander leaves on the head.

Drink a smoothie of banana, honey, yogurt, and skim milk.

Drink daily a juice of alfalfa + fresh spinach or fresh coriander. Your hair will grow fast.

To remove copper deficiency, drink juice of carrot, lettuce, capcicum and fresh alfalfa. This is good remedy for gray hair and hair loss.

Apply a paste of seeds of lemon and black pepper on the bald patches.
If you are losing your hair you should figure out what it is that is causing it. Do you use a lot of chemicals in your hair? Are you eating properly? Are you on any medication which could be causing it? Are you stressed? All these things can cause hair loss.

You really should figure out the exact cause because it may be a sign of disease.

Does anyone know of a chat forum for women experiencing severe hair loss?

no im sorry i dont. if its a medical condition then search google or something.. but if its not medical then you could be suffering from stress.. also women who have had babies can get hair loss. I had a bald patch right on the top of my head when my first was born but it grew back after a while.

Hope your ok, take care.. see your GP if you havent already done so...

What could be the cause of loss of hair in a woman?

Most likely the culprit is malnutrition, especially if it's a young woman. Older woman CAN experience hair thinning just like older men, but if it's a young woman, it's probably because she's not eating enough.

What causes hair loss in women. am scared i may develop a bald head. am slowing losing a bit of my hair.?

Stress can be a major cause of hairloss in females and so you need to identify areas of stress in your life and sort them out.

A good diet and plenty of water to drink will help flush toxins out of your blood stream and aid the body to heal itself.

I would suggest going to your GP and getting some blood tests done as well. This will help to pinpoint anything that may be physically wrong. What causes hair loss in women. am scared i may develop a bald head. am slowing losing a bit of my hair.?
Lots of things can cause hair loss: Vitamin deficiency, too much vitamin A, stress, alopecia, fungal infection, hormone imbalance, hyperthyroidism etc etc etc.

I'd suggest going to the following website:

    www.regrowth.com

It's a great site and will give you very open, non-commercial information on the reasons for hair loss as well as the treatments available to you.

There is also a seperate site that is pretty good for online purchases of various products:

    www.hair2go.com

One of my staff members is suffering from the same problem. As I also did.

Please feel free to drop me an email if you'd like any other detail. I'd be happy to help you wherever I can.

you may even just have a hormone imbalance go and have a blood test done and talk to your doc.
    STRESS!!!
Have your Thyroid checked! That was one of the symptoms I had.
    * Stress

    * It might run in the family
it sounds like alopecia areata. it is a hair losing problem usually from stress. if you are losing almost quarter size on your head. go to a demotologist to make sure. there are remedys for this problem .
Lots of reasons but it could be stress related, diet, etc.. or if breast feeding your hair can receed like a man but will eventually grow back, if in doubt contact your G.P
Vitamin deficiences such as iron deficiency can cause hair loss, so get yourself checked out. Also stress can be a major factor, or if you have recently suffered from an illness this can cause hair loss. Try not to worry about it if you can but go %26amp; see your doctor %26amp; improve your diet straight away. Eat plenty of fresh fruit %26amp; vegetables, meat %26amp; oily fish - organic if possible. Try to avoid processed foods, excessive sugar %26amp; refined flour %26amp; other junk food whenever possible as they are not beneficial for health. I hope you manage to solve your problem.
female pattern hair loss may be due to menopause or iron deficiency. it could also be a genetic disposition (if other members of ur family have it). alopecia can also be an auto-immunological abnormality.

some illness like psoriasis also cause hair loss or excess treatment with bleach or hair colour.

u must just take some vitamins or use some protein-rich hair care.

topical vasodilators are also available on prescription.
are you stressed out you may have the start of alopecia its where u have hair loss due to stress,go to the dr they can prescribe something and hopefully wont get to bad....
There can be a no.of reasons for hair loss in women.

Eg. stress, hormonal imbalance, some disease.

It an also be just seasonal, for no reason at all and temporary/reversible.

U need to monitor it for a few days. Normal hair loss in healthy ppl is 100/day. so maybe its normal afterall. Hair keeps growing and compensates for the normal daily hair loss. It may seem a lot to u but might be normal.

U need to look into this and if really feel the need, see a good dermatologist.

    Good luck!

Hair loss can be due to anxiety, temporary illness or use of harm full hair products. if you haven't under gone any of these things you should go to a doctor and get your body checked, it could be symptoms of something else.
There are several factors that our hair could lose. Like thyroid and stress this will lead to a poor blood circulation. If your scalp is tight your pores is closed so the hair cannot breath and that cause your hair to fall out.
I would go to the doctors and let them know, because most hair loss in women is caused by stress, however as someone has mentioned it could be down to your thyroid.

Dont put it off go see a doc, so you can get it sorted as soon as, so you dont have to worry more about bald patches beacue the more you stress out about going bald the higher your stress levels will be, so its a viscious cycle.

I think i might have androgenic alopecia (sorry if spelling is wrong) I am 21 female losing hair on top and sides of hair ..my doctor said i dont have that that it is a result of iron but i am sure i have it. Have any other females had this problem at such a young age??? thank you xxxDoes anybody know of any herbal medicine that will help with hair loss in women? I have heard herbal is better
If your taking a proper multi-vitamin and doing everything else right in terms of diet and exercise you might want to try sulfur. It has been used by alopecia patients to regrow hair. Sulfur is a natural chemical element and is used in a lot of hair growth aids. It has a really bad smell, like smoked bacon.

Try boundless tresses or MTG. They are both really good hair growth aids. If you do buy it, test some on the back of your hair to make sure your not alergic and then if your not just continue the use. You can research and read reviews on both products if you google their names.Does anybody know of any herbal medicine that will help with hair loss in women? I have heard herbal is better

lsn to my advise im doin it and im having great results

bring some garlic and peal them then get some slices of them in the areas where ur losin hair and after 30 minutes and then wash ur hair ,do it once aweek and after 2 weeks u'll start noticin baby hair
Are you talking about a ';receding hairline';? Yes, iron deficiency (not enough iron) or having too much iron. I suggest staying away from all sugars and white carbs like donuts, breads....drink lots of water, exercise, take a women's daily vitamin, take flaxseed oil daily, eat alot of raw veggies and fruits, eat raw fish or baked....If you are on birth control, this is dangerous...I've been off for 7 years and I had that problem too and also with iron. I suggest that if you are, get off immediately and tell your friends too. Look into a better way of living and eating and your hair will love you for it.

I do recommend that you shampoo and condition your hair once a week, deep condition once a week w/ a cream conditioner and massage your scalp with your fingers, sit under a hot dryer or use a hot wet towel for 15 mins. People think it's the hair that's the problem but it's actually the scalp condition and your healthy lifestyle.

    Hope this helps...

Cost of REALLUSIONS hair loss treatment for women?

i was looking online for different types of hair loss/thinning treatments for women for my mother. her hair has become quite thin in the front and it bothers her terribly. she has tried a small hair piece, not a cheap one either, but various hair dressers could never blend it quite right with the rest of her hair.

i stumbled across the website ';iwanthair.com'; and was interested in the REALLUSIONS treatment but i can't seem to find any info on how much something like that would cost. i know it won't be cheap but the nearest location for my mother to receive a consultation visit is roughly 2 hours away. i would just like to know if this treatment would be a feasible option for my mother cost wise before visiting the clinic for a consultation.

if anyone knows of approximate costs of this treatment and/or has had experience with it, i would greatly appreciate your feedback.Cost of REALLUSIONS hair loss treatment for women?
Hi Nefariou, hair loss could be for a multitude of reasons - stress, thyroid, genetic, nutrient deficiency. I suggest you read up on all these at this informative and easy to navigate site:

This will enable you to know what options are available and thus make informed decisions about it. By the time you finish, you will know for certain whether that 2-hour trip is necessary for now.

Just my 2 cents worth. I wish your mother good health and a long life.

What causes hair loss in women under the age of thirty?

Stress, lack of essential vitamins and minerals in your body, but it could be stress related. I lost my hair when i was about 27, and it devastated me, so i saw a trichologist who said that my hair would grow back and it did! The only drawback though was that it grew back grey. But what the heck, better grey hair than no hair! My hair loss was from stress and i got counselling which helped too. Have yourself checked out, and be positive and work through things that might be affecting youWhat causes hair loss in women under the age of thirty?
allergies, alopecia, polycystic ovarian syndrome, thyroidWhat causes hair loss in women under the age of thirty?
    Stress, stress and more stress!!!
Thyroid or lack of vitamins... I used to brush and would have tons of hair when I was done... My dad used to pick off hairs that were embedded in his shirts from washing my clothes with him. I got a free bottle of Viactiv Women's Viatmin - it's either 50 or 60 count at Walgreen's or any drug store. I haven't heard him complain any more and have less hair loss. It's great! Granted you'll always have some hair loss but this is A LOT LESS!
Not enough nutrition, anemia, thyroid, a lot of diseases/conditions actually

Or you damaged your hair too much

Why women's lots of hair loss when they comb?

It's normal. Not that many is lost. 50 hair/day is ok. :-)Why women's lots of hair loss when they comb?
danduff? oily hair? Why women's lots of hair loss when they comb?
We all lose hair all the time every day, I think like 100 strands a day if I remember right. Some of it is bound to find its way into your brush... Some of it may be loose but not disconnected from the follicle, so it comes out only when you comb. Others are tangled up in the rest of your hair...
Lots of hair styling products in your hair, like gel? Stress? Not brushing your hair enough? Thick hair?

It's normal to lose 100 strands a day, don't forget.

Are you shedding a lot when you shower, too? It could just be stress.

For the women that have had babies was there a loss of hair after u had the babies due to hormones?

Yes. And don't worry, it's natural. About a month or two after having the baby you'll notice your hair coming out! It feels like you're going bald, but you're not, it's just returning to it's natural state! You may or may not remember that in your last trimester of pregnancy, your hair was thicker and fuller!? Well that's because, for some reason unbeknownst to me, you don't lose any hair your last trimester! Like usually you lose a little here and there. Do not be alarmed, it will stop! For the women that have had babies was there a loss of hair after u had the babies due to hormones?
noFor the women that have had babies was there a loss of hair after u had the babies due to hormones?
My baby pulls out my hair, is that what you mean? All joking aside, yeah I do tend to lose a bit down the shower drain, I think it has more to do with stress hormones than pregnancy hormones though.
your body is going back to normal - so hormones play a role in it.

Try putting a leave in conditioner in your hair. I did this every other day and I could see a difference in the amount of hair that I lost. Plus my hair looked healthier since being pregnant.
Don't panic, and don't order a hair-piece. This fallout is normal, but it will stop well in advance of baldness - though an occasional new mum may begin to wonder if it will. Ordinary, the average person sheds 100 hairs a day, each of which is replaced by a new growth. When a woman is pregnant (or taking oral contraceptives) hormonal changes slow normal hair loss considerably, making the hair thicker and more luxuriant than ever before. But this reprieve from normal hair loss lasts only as long as pregnancy. During the first three to six months after delivery (or after one stops taking the pill), all the hairs that were scheduled to have fallen out during pregnancy are shed. Regrowth can't keep up with the loss at first, and so hair looks much thinner than usual.

By the end of your baby's first year, your hair should be back to pre-pregnancy thickness. In the meantime, a good haircut may minimise the problem.
    some. It happens.
Lots of books tell you that there will be hair loss due to hormones but I didn't notice any loss at all...I was probably way too tired! Seriously, no loss whatsoever!
I had a ton of hair loss after the birth of my fist child and again after the second. I was told that hair goes through two growth cycles during pregnancy and that it is completely normal to have a big loss afterward. When I say big, I mean it, my pillow looked like a wild animal had slept on it. But you may want to have your thyroid levels checked, it is also a symptom and is frequently an issue for women in childbearing years.

Apart from PCOS what could cause unwanted hair growth on face/stomach/breast and loss of head hair in a woman?

I had a blood test and my hormone levels are normal, yet I have those symptoms. My hair on my head is thinning but as fast as I pluck body/face hairs they're coming back within a couple of days and I hate it.

What could be causing it? Has anyone else experienced this and would going on the pill help?Apart from PCOS what could cause unwanted hair growth on face/stomach/breast and loss of head hair in a woman?
Possibly an underactive thyroid. Other than that, it could be an hereditary condition. Ask your doc if your thyroid function was checked as well as your other hormone levels. Also, you could have hormone levels within normal range and still have PCOS. An ultrasound would confirm this.Apart from PCOS what could cause unwanted hair growth on face/stomach/breast and loss of head hair in a woman?
The pill could help , but you would be better going back to the doctors , if you are trying for a baby then going back on the pill will just delay it even longer , Ive pocs myself and the hairs drive me mad as well , I've a pair of tweezers in my hand all the time.
    Stress can cause this.

  • Does anyone have reviews on any great working hair loss remedies for women of color?

as we know hair loss can be caused by many different reasons! There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections, hormonal problems, to mention a few.

year ago I suffered very much from dandruff and hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss.

the things that really worked for me was:

    1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

    2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

    3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

    4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

    5) also I used herbal treatment - Provillus (do not use Rogaine - it can cause unwanted hair growth elsewhere on the body)

It is a good products that helps prevent hair loss and contains Biotin and the clinically tested ingredients approved by the FDA to help re-grow your hair.! I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for me!Does anyone have reviews on any great working hair loss remedies for women of color?

Is there side effects to masterbation for women e.g loss of hair?

Masturbation would not cause hair loss. If you are experiencing this please see your doctor for an exam and testing to determine what is causing this.Is there side effects to masterbation for women e.g loss of hair?
It will rot your fingernails, and they will smell. Is there side effects to masterbation for women e.g loss of hair?
    I hope not!
No side effects whatsoever. If you are losing hair, sounds like you might have something else going on completely unrelated to masterbation.
NO! There's many myths about that. Those myths were thought up by men. Men who feel inadequate.

    LOSS OF HAIR - Women?

Im 27, and I have recently realised that I have lost a small ammount of hair about the size of marble. Im not sure if it is because of stress or because i had my hair dyed 2 weeks ago.

I went to the doctor (shitty doctor) and they said to come back in three weeks. Im not really happy with this.

Anyone have any advise on regrowing the gair or Shampoos in Australia to use?LOSS OF HAIR - Women?
Its not hair coloring that is the problem, you are experiencing ALOPECIA a form of premature balding that occurs in small cylindrical spots on the scalp this is caused from stress mostly and can be treated by your doc or dermatologist.

I see alot more of this now than ever but the main thing to do is to see a specialist hairstylist cannot help the problem unfortunatly.

And try not to worry alot about it if you can it only makes it worse.LOSS OF HAIR - Women?
Look for Natural shampoo with ingredients like cocamides, chamomile, horsetail, rosemary, aloe vera or those with keratin or amino acids.

Has anyone tried Rogaine for woman...do you recommend it?..or anything else that might slow hair loss?

I would say not to use chemicals on your hair. Why don't you go for some home remedies. Egg whites, lemon juice, oil massages, reducing stress and diet changes can reduce hair fall and make it healthier. You can find more cheap, effective and natural home remedies for hair loss as well as for healthy hair at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/hairfall.htmHas anyone tried Rogaine for woman...do you recommend it?..or anything else that might slow hair loss?
no it doesn't work it just swells the hair shaft makes it look like you had new hair. use protein spray. eat protein thinning hair is just a fact of hereditary life. those gimmicks don't work. I'm a profesional beauty cosmetologist believe me I would know I have bin licensed for 28 years .

Has anyone tried Rogaine for woman...do you recommend it?..or anything else that might slow hair loss?
if you have ever heard rogaine's slogan'; use it or lose it'; they are not lying! one of my male clients used rogaine with great success for a long time but one day he decided to stop using it and all the new hair that he had gained went right down the drain- literally. I recommend nioxin products which are made especially for thinning/ thin hair. I hope this helps!
Revivogen is one of the best hair loss treatments I have used until now. It has no side effects, it inhibits DHT which means stops hair loss and increases the volume of hair through its shampoo and conditioner. Furthermore, when the hair loss problem stops, more hair remain on the scalp thus increasing hair count as well. This treatment can be a stand alone treatment or complimentary in a regime. I have used it with Propecia but due to some small side effects I stopped taking Propecia and stayed with Revivogen. Here is a website that sells Revivogen:

I have very fine hair and also was losing hair at a young age (younger than you are) so I got worried and started researching and trying different things. I was losing hair everytime I washed it and what helped me the best was switching the right shampoo. Nioxin is defiantely the best shampoo I have every used for my hair. My hair is healthier than ever and also seems to be coming out much thicker. Secondly I use a deep conditioner once a week with protein (which is what hair is made of). Make sure to massage your head everyday when shampooing or any other time. I also use a nioxin follicle booster which i believe is causing miracles for my hair. Another thing I was trying for a while which seemed to help was applying tee tree oil to my scalp before shampooing. Lastly I started taking hair and nail vitamins. At this point i see absolutely no more hair loss and my hair is coming out faster, thicker, and healthier.
    try these tips

    drink milk

eat food rich in vitamin and protein because ur hair is made from 75% proteins so eating more proteins makes it thicker

also wash ur hair with warm water so that u would open the pores to allow more hair to grow

dont wash ur hair every day 4 times a week is enough because using too much shampoo ruins ur hair because it is full of chemicals and because u remove the natural oil in ur hair needed to make it thick

dont take artificial vitamins natural nutration in food is better because too much vitamin can kill i read it in the book
diabetes can also thin out your hair. Maybe your stress is due to high blood pressure. my mom was going through something similar before she found out she had both diabetes and high blood pressure. If you haven't gotten checked out in a while, i would recommend it.
    Just consult your doctor.
    get some viagra

If i use rogain for woman even though i don't have hair loss can there be damage to my hair?

Once you start Rogaine, you have to keep using it the rest of your life. Once you stop, any hair it's gained, or helped you keep, falls out.

You shouldn't use it, if you have no real need for it.If i use rogain for woman even though i don't have hair loss can there be damage to my hair?
No. A women can never have enough hair, so keep on keeping on. Rogain is an FDA-approved product and it will only cause you to become increasingly attractive as you apply more and more of the product to differant areas of your body.If i use rogain for woman even though i don't have hair loss can there be damage to my hair?
i believe u should get natural vitamins to boost ur hair and prevent loss in future and not chemical products, u can get loads of free trials online just google it.

I recommend this one as they supply u with 2 months for free before spend any money
Rogain is gross. It can make your hair fall out. Oh yeah and it smells bad.

I'm a 28-year-old woman, and I'm experiencing a lot of hair loss.

What Can I do to prevent hair loss as a young woman? Is it my diet or conditioner?

Occasionally I lose a bunch of hair. This morning I took a shower and wound up with hair all over the place. This doesn't happen all the time but it will about once a week or so. I east very healthy but I do not eat any meat or poultry. I Strictly eat seafood and vegetables, whole grains, fruit etc., but no red meat or land animals. I do eat a lot of Tilapia fish that does have high mercury levels. Does this have anything to do with my hair?

My friend suggested to me to take prenatal vitamins. Does that actually improve the look of hair, skin, and nails? or will i get enough of those vitamins with a regular multi?

I also started to condition my hair with coconut oil instead of regular conditioner because it makes my hair fall out!! im sure many women know what im talking about.

I'm not extremely concerned that I'll go bald or anything lol but please give me some suggestions! What Can I do to prevent hair loss as a young woman? Is it my diet or conditioner?
hair loss can come from many sources, genetics, diet, stress, chemical, etc. Some of the things you can do to help prevent this is to use a gentle shampoo (avoid sodium laurel sulfate) take proper whole food vitamins ( chemically based vitamins do not work) try to watch your stress levels, do not color your hair with chemically based color, take MSM and these will help the non genetic component of hair loss. What Can I do to prevent hair loss as a young woman? Is it my diet or conditioner?
Vitamins B, C, F, zinc, iron, copper and protein are essential for hair growth. Drinking plenty of water and eating plenty of raw fruits and vegetables is probably the best way to achieving healthy hair. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairfall.blogspot.com/ for more info.

  • Hair loss- 22 yr-old woman- PLEASE Help~!?

My parents have lush thick black hair, and I did too up until a month ago. Everyone is telling me it's from stress but I'm not under a significant amount of stress. I noticed it when I was pulling my hair back in a pony tail and the thickness was almost half of what it typically is. I'm starting to get very concerned and obsessing over it. I don't have health insurance, so I can't see a dermatologist or hair specialist, but my school has a health center that I plan on going to. Any suggestions/ideas? Serious answers only please. I appreciate it!!Hair loss- 22 yr-old woman- PLEASE Help~!?
Please answer my questions and I can give you a good responce as I have done a lot of reading up on this since it happened to my sister.

Do you have regular periods? If yes are they of normal flow? If no then how often on average per year?

    How is your diet?

How do your nails look? Is your skin in great condition?

Are you using the same shampoo/conditioner as normal? Have you changed recently?

Many factors can determine this problem. I myself have noticed my hair has been thinning a lot and it used to be so long and thick. I have an overactive thyroid which is an extremely common problem for women of our age-group and usually results in hair becoming brittle/less full of life. Medication sorts that out no problem.

Answer my questions and I will go on from there.

One last thing - you might be due a hair cut, as once I let my hair get so long it became unhealthy xHair loss- 22 yr-old woman- PLEASE Help~!?
You can fix this by trying out natural methods. Go to this webpage:

hair loss due to genes happens and theres not much you can do for that except like rogain type products to slow the loss. but there is a condition called Alopecia. here is the medical def for stress alopecia..Stress alopecia, a type of telogen effluvium, is temporary, reversible, diffuse hair loss on the scalp that results from severe emotional or physiological stress. Normally, about 90% of scalp hair follicles are in the growing anagen phase, and about 10% to 15% are in the resting catagen and telogen phases. Stress causes anagen hairs to convert prematurely into telogen hairs, which means that more than the normal number of hairs are in the telogen phase and ready to shed. the best thing is to see a doc for it but since you don't have insurance you need to research online to see if there are ';home remidies'; you can try. i don't know any off the top of my head. take care
Alepicia is actually a common problem - basically your immune system is attacking hair follicles. If anything it is probably that. Do you notice any balding spots or thinning roots. If not, your ends are probably just breaking off. Do a hair-pull test on yourself - pinch some hair at your roots and gently pull - not hard enough to pull them out - just enough. If some hairs come out anyway, it's probably alepicia. If you are noticing balding spots, here's what you can do.

Pure' a bunch of tomatoes and smear it on your scalp. Put on a shower cap and leave it for an hour.

Rumor has it that if you crush up birth control pills (free and planned parenthood) and put them in your shampoo, the hormones help with hair growth.

Change your shampoo and conditioner to a vitamin and moisture-rich brand and apply conditioner to your entire scalp - not just the ends.

When it comes down to it, you will need to see a dermatologist. I will also say that hair loss due to stress is probable. Most of these cases don't even know they are stressed out - and some turn out to have PTSD - hair loss is relatively common symptom of that. I just thought I would throw that out there just as an FYI.
Honestly, the only serious response to something like that is to send you to your doctor... I wish you well.

Hair loss, 20 year old woman?

About two years ago I dyed my hair with some hair dye that was on sale (I should have known). After I rinsed clumps of hair fell off and it continue to for a few months. Unfortunately I was left with a small bald patch. I've also notice my temples thin. I don't know what to do anymore. Its frustrating. I haven't dyed my hair since but the patch hasn't filled in. I just notice tiny hairs recently. If I go see a dermatologist about how much would they charge me with no insurance? Thanks for any feedback you can give me!Hair loss, 20 year old woman?
The hair dye was probably expired! But you should go see a dermatologists, I am not sure how much it will cost, but until then try putting oil in your hair. The oils that are good for your hair are coconut oil, olive oil and castor oil (if you have a dry scalp for castor oil). Try massaging your scalp every night and rinse your hair in cold water. But if you would like to use other products heres a link!

    http://www.timeformecatalog.com/cgi-bin/

Hope I helped! Oh yeah why dont you try Nioxin that will stop shedding for a while but later it will stop helping! But good luck!Hair loss, 20 year old woman?
It sounds like you have been unlucky, probably with an out of date or cheap hair dye.

The clumps of hair that have gone have gone, if there are tiny hairs there then you still have some live growth cells so if you treat it right it should grow back perfectly in the long term.

Dermatologists can be expensive and will more than likely work with a drug company and will then point you in the direction of a certain drug based treatment (they make money by selling these drugs). Obviously the will offer you good advice which is worthwhile taking on board.

Personally, when I have any ailments I like to go down the natural route, do some research and look for reputable products with guarantees (free trials, money back etc).

Good luck and I'm sure you'll get it back.

I just went to a Dr. to day and told him I have no insurance and they charged me half the normal price. Call first and see what they say over the phone. Good LuckHair loss, 20 year old woman?
You can call the dermatologist office and ask how much a consult is. You may have used an outed bottle of dye or left it in too long. If you try to dye your lighter than your natural colour that can cause your hair to fall out. The bleaching chemicals in it wreak havoc on your hair. But 2 years is a long time to not have your hair grow back. Seeing a derm would be a good idea.

I'm only 33 year old woman and I'm experiencing hair loss. It's quite embarassing. Any suggestion?

    read this:

    FALLING HAIR -

Does your hair fall a lot? Don't worry, you're not alone. Millions of people from all around the world suffer from dry, brittle and weak hair. Some of the possible reasons for falling hair are:

    Tension

    Too much work

    Illness

    Poor diet

    Over-exposure to the sun

    Perming

    Amateur bleaching

Too frequent and inexpert use of tints, rinses or other colourants

Here is what you can do to prevent hair fall

Shampoo regularly. Remember, a CLEAN scalp is a HEALTHY SCALP.

Brahmi amla oil also promotes hair growth.

A high protein diet with plenty of fruits, green vegetables and dairy products is a must.

Drink 10-12 glass of water everyday.

Use a very mild shampoo and condition your hair at least twice a week. When you do, make sure you rinse out the conditioner thoroughly, otherwise residue build-up will cause your hair to look limp and dull.

Know your vitamins! IRON is important for healthy hair and brittle, limp hair indicates an iron deficiency. Spinach has a good iron content, so gulp it down!

ZINC helps prevent hair loss and greying. Eat adequate zinc rich foods. Overweight people tend to have zinc deficiency, which is inversely related to the body mass index. Thus if you are overweight and if your hair falls too much, you may want to increase your intake of zinc containing foods. Recipes containing stone ground, wholegrain flour are rich in zinc.

A shortfall in VITAMIN B may cause dandruff, falling hair, loss of colour and could encourage grey hair. So B group Vitamins are essential for gloss, colour and thickness.

VITAMIN C ensures the health of capillaries supplying blood to hair follicles. Make sure your diet includes plenty of fresh fruits and veggies.

VITAMIN E encourages hair growth. Switch from refined flours to wholemeal and wheatgerm, eggs, vegetable oil.

COPPER stops hair from falling. Studies show that the copper content in the blood serum of people with falling hair is less than normal. Different types of alopecia (falling hair) are seen to have a deficiency of this important trace element. Include small quantities of nuts, especially cashews and peanuts, seeds, whole milk and beans in your diet as these contain minute but important amounts of copper.

Homemade remedies for preventing hair fall:

Apply almond oil on scalp and massage.

Grind fenugreek seeds in water and apply on your scalp. Wash off after 40 minutes. Do this every morning for a month 隆V if it suits you! Remember, different treatments suit different types of hair.

Massage warm castor oil + almond oil into your scalp gently. Wrap a hot towel around your scalp so it gets absorbed into the hair. Do this twice a week for healthy, shiny hair.

Add 2-3 drops of honey to a glass of water and use this as the last rinse after shampooing.

    Quick Hair Care Conditioner

Mix 1 egg, 2 tbs castor oil, 1 tsp vinegar and 1 tsp glycerine. Beat until frothy and massage lightly into your scalp. Wrap your head in a hot towel, steam, then wash off. This conditioner makes hair thicker, shiny, soft and manageable.

    Honey Conditioner

Beat 1-2 eggs (depending on the length of the hair), 1 tsp honey and 2 tsp olive oil. Massage gently into the scalp. Steam, and shampoo after an hour.

    Alcohol Conditioner

Beat 1-2 eggs with 2 tsp brandy. Massage into your scalp. Leave for 10-15 mins. Rinse well. The egg nourishes your hair and brandy stimulates hair growth.

Your hair is a vital beauty asset, requiring constant loving care. And with a little nurturing, lush, glossy hair will be yours

    ESSENTIALS FOR FALLING HAIR -

Does your hair fall often Arm yourself with these tools to combat hair fall.

    Wide-toothed comb

Get yourself a wide-toothed comb. This is probably one of the most important yet underutilized of all hair tools. A wide-toothed comb helps you distribute conditioner evenly all over your hair while shampooing and conditioning. In addition, it also helps get rid of knots smoothly.

The best time to get rid of knots is during conditioning. Apply conditioner and run a wide toothed comb gently through your hair.

While untangling dry hair, do so in sections. Take one section at a time, and first, untangle the ends of your hair. Do so slowly, and don?t pull unless you want your hair to fall out in clumps or break.

Don?t wait for the last minute before detangling your hair. Every night, while sitting in front of the television, run a wide toothed comb gently through your hair, until you have untangled it completely. Do this every night, and you will notice that your hair remains free from tangles.

    Leave-in conditioner

Dry hair tends to tangle easily, and, needless to say, causes it to break. Make sure your hair is never devoid of moisture by always keeping a bottle of leave-in conditioner handy. The next time you feel your hair is dry and rough to the touch, simply rub a dollop of leave-in conditioner between your palms, and apply it to your hair. Comb through with your wide toothed comb. Your hair will be instantly rejuvenated and moisturized. Gradually, the texture will also improve. This is a must if you blow dry your hair regularly, or if it is chemically treated. Such hair constantly craves moisture, so get yourself a bottle of leave-in conditioner.

    Oil

Olive, almond and coconut oils are all excellent for the hair. While you could apply oil as an alternative to leave-in conditioner, oil tends to make your hair sticky, and you cannot style your hair well after applying oil. Your only alternative would then be to tie up your hair. For better results with oil, apply just a few drops immediately after washing your hair, when your hair is still dripping wet. Oil doesn?t penetrate the strands as easily as leave-in conditioner does though. Nothing beats a hot oil massage followed by a steam treatment, as the steam helps the oil penetrate the hair strands, strengthening them and curtailing hair fall.

    Egg

Egg is great for the hair ? there are no two ways about it! True, it causes a tremendous stink in the bathroom, and your hair may let off an ?eggy? smell, but the results are instantaneous and worth it! Egg strengthens your hair almost immediately, and the egg yolk leaves your hair shining. Whip an egg with two tablespoons of olive oil and apply it to your hair. Wash off after half an hour. Make sure you wash off with cold water though, or the egg will start cooking in your hair, and would be harder to take off! Use a scented shampoo to counter the smell of egg in your hair, and follow up with a leave-in conditioner. Do this for a month, and you will be amazed by the change in your hair texture and the reduction in hair fall.I'm only 33 year old woman and I'm experiencing hair loss. It's quite embarassing. Any suggestion?
There is rogaine for women. Just get it at the drug store. If this doesnt help, a doctor can prescribe some stronger stuff.I'm only 33 year old woman and I'm experiencing hair loss. It's quite embarassing. Any suggestion?
See a doctor. It's probably hormonal and could be your thyroid. Hair loss is a common symptom of a thyroid problem.
See your doctor about it. Hair loss after pregnancy and going off birth control is normal if either apply. But, woman can lose their hair too.

    Hair replacement is one option.
you should avoid wearing hat to prevent hair loss and for the mean time lessen the use of conditioner or anything that can damage the hair such as hair colors(highlights),ironing and many more.hope that i help even a little bit
I would look into Rogaine as the other answer suggested. I would also look into nutritional supplements. I would find someone who works in alternative medicine for guidance. In my reading, there are lots of things that can cause hair loss; too many to name, in fact. As far as I know, traditional medicine looks at hair loss as irreversable. But I don't think alternative medicine does. I'd start reading up on it if I was you, and you may be able to determine your cause for your particular case as you know your situation best. Good luck to you. I wouldn't give up if it was me, either.
Hair loss can be caused by various problems. Such as medical conditions, hormones and medicine.

I suggest you call your doctor and get a professional opinion.

I've been a licensed cosmetologist for thirty years.

    Hope this helps.
did you try lathering your scalp daily with peanut butter?
