47 year old woman with recent hair loss?

started as a quarter size spot and is getting bigger. Is this related to menopause, my family dr gave me prednisone and it seems to be getting bigger. What is my next step, all the labs he did were normal. Freaking me out47 year old woman with recent hair loss?
