Hair loss in women?

I am a 36 year old female and I have noticed around my hair line that the hair has broken and it's only about an inch long. I am relieved that there is re-growth but am wondering why this has happened? I have been using a straightening iron - could that have broken the hair or could this be a more serious underlying problem? Does anyone know?Hair loss in women?
it is hard to guess without seeing your hair...but do you wear a style that stresses that area of your hair?

Are you noticing breakage any place else...braided styles often times put stress on that area of the hair....since your hair is growing back, it is unlikely that it is a medical condition...

also check out any medications that you are using some of them have hair loss as one of the side effects

Straightening irons are very hard on the hair. The heat can be very damaging. You might want to consider picking up some vitamins to help promote healthy hair growth. There is a hair, skin and nail formula you can get from GNC. Make sure you eat enough protein and get your B vitamins.

If you have had any extreme weight loss that can cause hair loss as can certain medications...
Loss or absence of hair, also known as alopecia is a hereditary and unavoidable condition. In some men it can be a side effect of medication, a dietary deficiency or hormonal imbalance.

You can help reduce the effects of hair loss from stress, trauma, shock or illness by increasing your intake of vitamin C found in fresh fruits and vegetables, particularly citrus fruit and juices, parsley, broccoli, green peppers and black currants.

Take a vitamin B complex everyday or brewers yeast. Increase your intake of protein found in meat, fish, liver, wheat germ, dried cooked beans and peas, tofu, cheese, milk and eggs.
